Pen spinning is addicting because you can do it so often. During the school year I'm sure most of us spin, subconciously or not, for 2-3 hours a day.

what he said ^^
teh pens are oh so addictive too.
modding is addicting.
knowing that you can do something someone else probably can't do,
thats what makes it addicting.

I guess its addicting b/c pen spinning is something everyone can do and have fun.
I see alot of my friends are into rubix cubes, glowsticking, and breaking but not of them can pen spin  . So pen spinning is a way for me to show off to people, like how breakers, glowstickers, and rubix cube solvers show off. :vhappy:

Because its addicting.
Lol I found that hobbies are addicting if you have competition.... Like with your friend or something Example: "DUDE GUESS WHAT I LEARNED A NEO BAK FALL!!!" you "OMFG I BETTER LEARN HOW!"

Most of you are just saying PS is addicting because things pen spinning involves are addicting. Question begging, anyone?

i have an "obsessive personality".
that means im the kinda guy that see's smitty sitting across the room from me in chem class, and HAS to be able to do that. I usually get stuck on something for a few weeks, then see something cooler, or move on to something else.... Pen Spinning has stuck around the longest for me so far, but no matter how much i dont want it to happen, i think it will eventually wear off on me.... ill get bored of it...
having an obsessive personality is kinda cool cuz it means im pretty decent at alot of things, im what you could call, "a jack of all trades" .... but its bad cuz it means theres no one real specialty for me... im not exceptional at any one thing... only "pretty good", or "ok" at everything....
as they say, "a jack of all trades is a master of none"
Eriror - July 22, 2007 06:50 AM (GMT)
I just have nothing better to do.

It's a fun distraction during the school year when im sitting at my desk toiling away at homework.

For me, there are just so many aspects to spinning than just spinning, the modding, concepts, and stuff.
Simply put, it just doesnt get dull as easily as other things.

Pen spinning is fun.
Pens are everywhere, it's hard to escape or forget about.
UCPSB is a very good online community, this encourages you to spend time there, and therefore, to spin more.
In school, there is great oppurtunity to pen spin, one might note most members here are still in school (suckers :blaugh: )
Once you reach a certain level of skill, one does not want to give up, since the time learning that skill becomes somewhat wasted, and the skill also fades.
Pen spinning takes little effort to do. To do something else such as play football, one must leave the house and find a suitable place to play (using that for an example), pen spinning you can just pick up a pen and go. It's very accessable.
A combination of these factors, makes pen spinning addictive.

I think its because their are alot of tricks and as a newbie you look at the trick book and think "Oh my god, i'll never be able to learn all those tricks" but then if you start you'll notice that you learn alot of tricks in a short time, you master the fundamentals you learn more and more tricks and the feeling of success always pushes you harder because you can constantly become better and better, win battles be in collabs etc.
So yeah i think the sense of achievement is one of the reasons why PS is so addicting.

That's very true. The sense of achievement that you get from mastering a trick that you saw the pros do is something that is very hard to find.
That, and the fact that pen spinning is just taking a random pen(obviously it stops being a random pen after a while ;P) and start doing tricks with it, and tricks that make other people go:"WTF? How did you do that?".
I'm sure that everyone who's still in school knows how funny it is to casually spin in class, then watch around and see other people try and fail miserably :)
Webo Splash - July 22, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
Cause its unique and no one knows about it. Also cuz you got nothing else to do.
platypusvictim9 - July 23, 2007 12:19 AM (GMT)
^^^Exactly^^^
I'm not really sure why it's so addicting, maybe I'm not addicted?
I agree with the competition thing though. Like someone just signed up, and later you see in the PS journal that they got neobakfall, and you're like, wtf?!?!?!
