Title: UCPSB

firebird - July 24, 2007 06:19 PM (GMT)
Vote & discuss.

ShortAssassin - July 24, 2007 06:28 PM (GMT)
I voted no, but I guess I haven't been around long enough to be able to vote completely accurately. I mainly voted no because of the ladder, and how many battles we are currently having. I think that there is a decent amount of activity now.

Zombo - July 24, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
omg, this again?

trying to stir shit up for no reason, eh?

firebird - July 24, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
Uh, no. Just trying to see how many people feel a certain way.

Zombo - July 24, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
ok you know how ppl like to freak out and exagerate, just making a poll will make people panic.

Eso - July 24, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
It's an online forum, what's there to panic about? Only things that should cause any sort of wide-spread panic would be a DDOS attack and expired web space.

beats me, people just like to freak out. it excites them and others like to join in and freak out too.

that's how massive flame wars are generated.

grsbmd - July 24, 2007 07:34 PM (GMT)
I'd actually say the opposite. Somehow a bunch of new people have managed to amass more posts that I have without me ever seeing their names.

But I've been through enough highs and lows on this board to know that it's hasn't ever been dying, although it was pretty sad when DarkInertia, Fook, Michael, Patte, and a bunch of other spinners including many French spinners all left presumably over stupid arguments like length of a pen.

so actually you're agreeing with me, petty arguments escalate and people start to form stereotypes which far off the reality and leave the board for no good reason.

Eso - July 24, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
With all of the uncalled for name-calling and bickering lately, I wouldn't be surprised if more left.

Mats - July 24, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
I think we are more ready for UPSB V3 than ever.

However, UCPSB is not dying.

Voted 'yes'

In the case of the French spinners, it seems the stereotypes are already embedded in their paradigm. Even within their board they seem predisposed to shoot down dissenting views without giving them even scant consideration. Of course not all French spinners are narrow-minded, otherwise we wouldn't have any here. Also, the conceptions formed a priori aren't an exclusive problem to their group, as those who are brainwashed by any "PS propaganda" exhibit the same close-mindedness. Maybe there is nothing inherently wrong with a blissfully ignorant community, but they will certainly never thrive in the absence of diversity.

Trogz - July 24, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
the quality of posting: yes

activity: no

if there is a way to disable or hide post count, you should do it, Zombo. It would probably be the best thing to happen to this board

Zombo - July 25, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)
why does post count matter? aside from the first 20 or so posts to be allowed to play arcade or vote, the rest doesn't really matter...

edit: I managed to remove post count from the posts, but you can still access it when viewing profile, thats the best i can do.

Trogz - July 25, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
removing post count would probably cause a lot of the spamming and useless posting and stop some noobs from trying to make their post count high.

firebird - July 25, 2007 02:52 AM (GMT)
Well let's see if this has any effect on the spam. I think it should.

Zombo - July 25, 2007 03:04 AM (GMT)
spamming for post count when there's really not much privilege associated to it is dumb... it's not like we have a Vault here.

Mats - July 25, 2007 04:55 AM (GMT)
Shit, my post count is ruined. I'll have to rack up more of those blue bars to make it clear I have a lot of posts. B)

Great idea! this is the only way to stop sucking polls or stupid posts ... cause many people only post cause they think the are big puns if they have many posts ...

Dex

@ topic .. I donīt think that the board is dying cause nearly every day we have new members ... and new member are a sign for a continious activity ...

Nope, Zombo just took out the pips too.

Damnit. I guess the best I can do is aim to be UCPSB's top poster and top of the daily top ten, at least then some people will see I have plenty of posts. B)

Hikari - July 25, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Well the only reason i really want to be a high poster is so i can have a custom title, Do you think you could allow that feature to everyone too??

Retro-spectre - July 25, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
Leave post count off, it's fine. It won't really matter, anyway. Implementing a GOOD reputation module will make a change, I think. If a certain user recieves a certain amount of neg rep they get an infraction, etc. I'm not going to work out the bugs or anything, that's a mod job :) (But don't allow people to neg-rape people)

Zombo - July 25, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
yes it was already suggested, but i's impossible on invisionfree to do that.

nateiskewl - July 28, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
If you have it on your own server then you can edit this board with PHP....http://www.htmlgoodies.com .... start reading up!

Scott Shaputis - August 5, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
I vote yes, because I never really see anything new here and worth comming here for that is why I come less and less...
