TurbulentTurtle - January 14, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)
I've always wanted to try that stuff, it looks so much fun :P
Although it'll be hard to actually get one where I live, but I have some friends who said they could hook me up :D

TayYH89 - January 14, 2006 02:27 PM (GMT)
I find balisong manipulation pretty cool, but I'll need to get the knife first before I'll be doing any.

fung0wd0d41 - January 14, 2006 03:12 PM (GMT)
first of all the "real " balisongs are extremely sharp and could cut u in a second on the other hand some stores sell duller knifs and some dont even have a blade on them id advise people that are starting to get the dull ones first ;)

TurbulentTurtle - January 15, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
My friend told me that there was this one shop in my town that sells them with rubber blades or some crap like that. So basically practice knives.

sicxer_ - January 15, 2006 11:33 AM (GMT)
I searched ebay and there was no butterfly knifes. Not even a fake one. Well I guess I have to trade it then... Do post office allow these things to be sent?

Well if anyone has a butterfly to sell/trade pm me plz. I assume they're expensive so I'll probably pay you in cash, although if you want pens I can only get you the stuff found in Singapore which I'm sure you know what they are.

TayYH89 - January 15, 2006 02:03 PM (GMT)
I don't think sending of weapons is allowed. So you'll probably not be able to get it...

H-J - January 20, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
does someone have a bailsong knife for trade????
I really want one :) .
If someone wants to trade pls add me at msn :D
oops!!
I wrote bailsong knife. I mean butterfly knife B) .
Is it a difference ina bailsong knife and butterfly knife??

kebaan - January 20, 2006 04:46 PM (GMT)
i dont think its going to be easy to recieve a balisong :S .. but good luck, its a cool manipulation :D

chanman123 - January 20, 2006 04:48 PM (GMT)

Yep I saw one last month..... But it's a place far from my home so.... You malaysian? ;)

TurbulentTurtle - January 21, 2006 07:54 AM (GMT)
You would probably have to do a lot of legal crap to be able to send it over. Unless you want to just send it over like a normal package and hope nothing happens

jasonsigar - January 21, 2006 09:14 AM (GMT)
Customs will take you knife away before it even starts shipping! Maybe you can go to a specialty knife store. I have seen a few around where I live.

Nope, Singapore. But I could pop into JB for the sake of it. Its more or less confirmed that there are no LEGAL shops here that sells butterfly knives.

H-J - January 21, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
now when I haave think about this I think butterflt knifes is not lagal in Sweden :(

kebaan - January 23, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)

Rob - February 12, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
I can try to get a video of me:P
hmm balisongs/butterflyes are illegal in Sweden...so its kinda hard to get them here, if you dun buy it in Thailand like me ;)

kebaan - February 14, 2006 06:51 AM (GMT)
hehe that would be cool :)

KosiarZ - April 15, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)
In Poland, this stuff is 100% legal. Funny... Nunchaku are prohibited, baseball bats are prohibited (sic), but you can cross the border with a sharp, 2-metre claymore and say that it's you 'utilitary knife of any length'. :P

I've been practice balisong manipulation just for fun, for a month or so... Can do several tricks. I have bought two knives for ~6$ each on Allegro (the polish e-bay-like service), and I'm very pleased with them. Not sharp, but solid (dropped it manyy times onto a hard surface, didn't even bend) and very good for learning, imo.

Indeed, that's a very nice manipulation... Good for practicing strength for PS ^_^

Mrvile - April 28, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
They sell them at the local mall where I live at this store called "Cutter's Corner" that sells stuff like swords and knives. I'll try to get my parents to buy me one eventually since I'm not 18 yet. It looks like fun. How much do they cost?

Yo u went to thailand. u should meet nemo and other guys. tips: buy some g3's next time

kam - May 15, 2006 06:27 PM (GMT)
I believe there are sites that sell balisongs and will ship anywhere. But you should always check your local laws to make sure it's legal to own or carry these knives. Some places allow you to own them, but you can't be walking around with one. I heard there are places that you are allowed to carry one, but it must be in plain sight (or it's considered a concealed weapon?). I don't know...laws are just...funny.

From my personal experience, I recommend buying dull blades, specially if you try to juggle two balisongs. You can easily get 20+ cuts within an hour if the blades are sharp (sad to say, I know this from personal experience).

fitzgeraldhimself - September 1, 2006 04:52 AM (GMT)
Haha balisong is an awesome manipulation but it is the most annoying clickty clacking to listen to if your not the one doing it.

Before I started PSing, there used to be a shop in Far East Plaza that sold knives and whatnot.I'm not very sure whether the shop has closed down, but it's worth a try

TayYH89 - September 1, 2006 12:36 PM (GMT)
Regarding getting butterfly knives, if you can't get them in your country, or can't smuggle them from another country, the next best solution will be to buy them online, from authorised stores. I'm not sure if such websites exist, but I wouldn't recommend buying them from any other online stores cause it'll most probably be confiscated. (you know, due to terrorism and stuff)

Hmm... if I'm able to pick some from Johor, then I wouldn't mind learn this cool hobby.

darkinertia - October 27, 2006 03:32 PM (GMT)
i know absolutly nothing about balisong. nothing. but i wanna get into it and since im 18 now, i can buy a knife off of the net so i was wondering if anyone can point me to a place where i can get a good knife for really really cheap....not even good but desent i dont really care as long as the blade doesnt fly off or some shit

Voltaire - October 27, 2006 05:14 PM (GMT)
Hm... Well, you have a lot of choices. This is a good one for pretty cheap, though the handles are curved slightly.

Black Carbon Fiber Balisong

This is what I really, really, really, really, really (I think you get the point. :P ) recommend, though, for anyone starting out.
The Ronin Gear trainer.

It's ten bucks, dull, and it performs just as good as any real knife, without any risk of injury. (Except from split knuckles from richocheting too hard. >.< )

This is the only knife I have left, since my real blade got confiscated, but it still is just as good. Same weight, same dimensions and dynamics, and if you're still living with your parents, they won't get as pissed about it. (If they really care about you buying one, that is.)

And then, once you get your knife, go here: Balisong extreme

You'll learn all the tricks you ever want to know from that site. ^_^

darkinertia - October 27, 2006 05:42 PM (GMT)
thanks so much man! ok well im gonna order that ronin one soon after i get my damn sharecheck card so i cant wait!

Joshua - October 27, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah, thanks for that link, Voltaire! I was looking around, but never thought to ask everyone here.

Voltaire - October 27, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
I started off doing balisong manipulations long before I ever spun a pen, so if you have any questions at all about balisongs, don't hesitate to ask me. ^^ You can't go wrong with the trainer, it'll save your fingers in the long run.

darkinertia - October 30, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)
question...is uniqueblades.com a trustable site? cuz they have stilletos and shit and i really want a knife from that site cuz free shipping cuz the trainer is out of stock on that other site

Voltaire - October 30, 2006 11:27 PM (GMT)
Hm... Well, I bought mine at a shop in San Fransisco, so I'm not sure... I'll keep looking around, and see if I can find a more trustworthy site. ^^
