He wasn't famous in the public eye so much as pop stars and the like, but he was known by some. Around achedemic circles he was known very well. He was very important, read the wiki on him I guess if you want some info on the guy.

the story behind this was, that they told Tim he was there to talk about another topic. But what really happend was, they just brought him they're to talk sh*t about him, because of his LSD. which is why he tried to leave when the interview started. A complete setup by the host, he handled the situation maturely though.

It was not the only time he was set-up. He really was a guy with people out to get him. The government do not like those who oppose it, nor the media, which is heavily influenced by the government. He was a very very smart guy, with a lot of supporters, who wanted good for the world. A great danger in the eyes of the government.
