Title: Adding Weight
FallenSeraph - July 18, 2006 06:02 PM (GMT)
does any1 know of a good way to add more momentum, without addnig unsightly metal tips? ive been looking lik 3weeks for my dad's lead tape he uses to weigh down his golf clubs, but no success. maybe ill jus go and buy some.

You can shove some grips into the caps.

What I did to a comssa to make it heavier is cut an rsvp grip and put a smaller part in the front cap and put a bigger part in the back cap. Then I put some sticky tac in the tips of each cap. Then I wrapped duct tape around the caps and put grips over it.

Are you kidding, Leviathan? That seems like a lot just to weigh down a Comssa.
Leviathan - July 19, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
Well, it works. I didn't like the lightness of the comssa, so that's everything I could do to weight it but keep the same look.
FallenSeraph - July 19, 2006 03:41 AM (GMT)
do u roll up the grip or something? b/c i still cant seem to get it deep into the cap, enough to not block the tip of the pen
edit*
the best solution i have come up wit so far is jus to change the caps to something more heavy and long(ie. le plumeII)
does any1 know of another double cap pen that is similar in length to the comssa, but heavier? lik is rushon or playcolor better?
Leviathan - July 19, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
For the rsvp grip, you take a part of the grip and cut it so it's unrolled. Then you cut a part off so it can now fit inside the comssa cap.
FallenSeraph - July 19, 2006 05:48 AM (GMT)
dude thx levi. i did that and jus added a boatload of tape under my anyball grips.time to go test it =) then off to recording my first collab vid
zepiroth76 - September 30, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
yeah so I got loads of rsvp grips lying around. And I didn't want to destroy my USPSB bics by well...superglueing tips on or anything. So, I found a way to keep the nice look of the bic with no tips and still add weight.
Take two rsvp grips and fold them in half. Tape it at least down 3 times so it's half the size of a normal rsvp grip. Then, just push them in as far as possibly into the bic caps and there you have a normal Bictory that is slightly longer and heavier.
darkinertia - September 30, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
it works for anything pretty much....modeling clay, blue tack....i was thinking about doing lead(solder) but i dunno how that would work
UnEmploymentDude - September 30, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
or, you can shove random things inside the barrel, they spin better that way.
Taro - September 30, 2006 02:19 AM (GMT)
solder would be heavy as hell. that shit is dense. and i hate jus melting it plain, u get freaking flux everywhere. maybe thats jus me being a noob
zepiroth76 - September 30, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
I've always wanted to try using lead tape on some pens and see how much the weight changes.
darkinertia - September 30, 2006 02:38 AM (GMT)
resin core solder already has flux in it...actually almost all solder has flux in it
UnEmploymentDude - September 30, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
Does that get complecated? I personally like to use separete flux. I always get a nicer solder joint.
stollz - January 15, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
dose anyone have any ideas of something to put inside the body and replace the ink to make the pen heavier? i was thinking a thin steel rod but i cant seem to find any.
Elky - January 15, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
I think some people put BBs in there o.O

BBs?
HuroniX - January 15, 2007 05:36 PM (GMT)
BB's as the bullets in BB guns
stollz - January 15, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
oh yeah <_< havnt seen a bb gun in ages
but wont bbs make the pen loud?
Eso - January 15, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
Add more layers of paper so that it fills up the barrel.
Cybrax2 - January 15, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
Trogz - January 15, 2007 07:19 PM (GMT)
metal tips. they can go inside the caps or outside the caps
trottsdude - January 15, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
water FTW!!! lol really water makes it heavier and look cool...as long as it dont leak :/

Asian Tim - January 15, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
I used Rice for an insert once. It makes it a tad heavier.
pser - January 15, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
rice?? lol? anyways, mayb fishing weights? inside the caps or in the body...
Dr1v37h38u5 - January 15, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
i use post cards or other heavy paper products underneath the normal insert.
for putting the BB's in, alternate a small piece of cotton and one or two BB's to reduce the amount of sound from the BB's hitting each other or the inside of the pen.
FallenSeraph - January 15, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
duct tape FTW!!!!
lol and if you really want to get heavy, use lik lead tape or something
UnEmploymentDude - January 16, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
Jel-o
Elmo did this, I hear it made it nice and a tasty treat!

Oh my god, lol.. that would be pretty awesome!

i have used sand, like said in an earlier post but i found it hard to pack it tight so the weight wasnt moving around
Dr1v37h38u5 - January 17, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
here's an untested idea for sand.
try packing in something springy, like a piece of expanding foam before the sand, and then another piece after it; this allows the foam to keep pushing against the sand, keeping pressure on it, therefore keeping the sand from shifting and creating a run-on sentence.
if you have the time and/or expenses, try filling up the inside of the pen with epoxy MIXED with sand, or another heavy powder (iron filings).
godofdeath_ - January 17, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
The problem with sand, (if somebody hasnt mentioned this before -- im too lazy to check) is that it scratches the barrel.
Dr1v37h38u5 - January 17, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
yeah..i was thinking about the sand on the inside of the barrel. cause sand = scratches on any smooth clear surface.
so i propose putting and insert in the pen, then filling the insert with sand.
azwe - January 17, 2007 11:23 AM (GMT)
You can always mold cement. That should make it REALLY heavy. But that would be really impractical and stupid too.
godofdeath_ - January 17, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
cement isnt really that heavy.. (whats heavy is concrete <--spelling) and even if you have an insert, theres still a huge possibility that a few loose grains of sand will get over the insert, and get caught inbetween the barrle and the insert. Water might work tho.. lol

what!...i filled a bic with concrete...its kinda stupid cuz now the concrete has somehow formed a stick and it slid out of the pen

Now we know what happens with pens and concrete.

Has anyone ever thought of using lead air rifle pellets as wights iv been trying it for a while and they seem to work quite well
pros:
heavy
soft and easily adjustable (you can easily squash one flat or cut it in half with pliers)
cons:
cant really think of any right now maybe the fact that you probably have to buy a whole packet of them.
