Title: Frisbee

Ivan the Terrible - May 24, 2006 01:27 PM (GMT)
After reading kam's post I searched a bit about frisbee and found out it's pretty cool, probably i'll give it a try this summer.

Here's a nice site to learn some tricks.

And if you wanna see what the pros can do, here are some vids:

also, www.bookofcool.com has some sweet manipulations. They have a small frisbee collab too. Good site.

I wish I had the time and the good wheather for frisbee.

it looks somewhat limited, all the guy is doing is slapping the frisbee around in the same motion, and rolling it over his shoulders...

thats pretty cool except the first vid isnt a real frisbee trust me i play ultimate it was some cheap one with no center anyway. Zombo there isnt much u can do besides keep it spinning and transfer it to different parts of your body or tipping the frisbee but beleive me its not easy i play frisbee all the time ive seen alot of guys and no one could do that not even ones that went to college and got exceptional

The parts of frisbee manipulation I find unappealing are the stalls on different body parts and pirouetting that makes you look like a ballerina. When I do play frisbee I work on honing my throws so that the receiver barely has to move to catch it. I also practice throwing with my non-dominant hand and other various throws and catches. Usually I play frisbee with an Aerobie because it flies straight and far. You can have a crappy release and it'll still fly straight. Har. Har.

hey dark inertia there is alot more to frisbee then just throwing it or as we in the sport like to call it handling there are numerous types of offense and defense and sometime your gonna want to curve to frisbee or something so the person has to move or if thier cutting u put the disc out in front of them

Anyone know and forums or sites on frisbee manipulation and or ultimate frisbee? Cause i wanna learn some of taht and play.

I thought ultimate frisbee was more of a game than a manipulation? Maybe I'm wrong though, but how would you manipulate a frisbee, is it kind of like juggling?

Gotta go trade for some frisbee mods

LET'S TAKE OUR SHIRTS OFF AND GO THROW FRISBEE'S IN THE RAIN!!!!!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!
No that was actually pretty cool. I never knew it was that extreme with like tricks and stuff. I especially like the chest rolls.

frisbee - July 31, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
They aren't actually that good. Some of that stuff they could only do because of the rain (like when the guy held it in his palm while it spun). I'm trying to learn how to do some freestyle, with a soaked disc like that i could probably nail delay as long as them, & i can airbrush the disc as long as them. (nail delay=let the disc ride on your fingernail, airbrush=throw it up & smack it so it keeps going) Chest rolls are pretty hard for me though. Its hard to learn some of the moves because its not that windy around here.

Here are some better freestyle vids to really show you some nasty moves:

Maybe one day i'll be decent at freestyle, but i only do it when im alone, i just throw or play ult or disc golf otherwise...

Joshua - July 31, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
I can freestyle a bit, but its hard for me, because all I have is 175's... And a lot of them!

frisbee - August 1, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
I think a standard freestyle disc is already 160g, josh. Not much of a difference ^^ I love talking to older disc heads about what used to be the standard ultimate discs, they were apparently very light back in the day (100-120g i guess?)

edit: Can you do true freestyle (nail delay etc)? Or can you do the spin where you constantly rotate it with the pad of your finger? I'm actually pretty good at the latter, i can do it lefty & in both directions with my right hand, as well as tricks like taps, throw the disc up & slap the top then catch it, turn it under your arm & all the way around, etc... but I don't consider it true freestyle.
