Title: Good Bye HGG
Description: I Hardly Knew Yee

InhumanElmo - April 12, 2006 11:36 AM (GMT)
I recieved an email back from pentel regarding the HGG k116 (The HGG we all know and love). They have discontinued and will no longer produce them. So whatevers out there get em now cuz they're not makin anymore. Atleast we still have the Hybrid Roller! Heres a quote from the email.

In response to your question, only the K116 Hybrid Gel Grip pen in all ink colors were discontinued and no longer available to purchase.

Oh!!
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

really!? :o

jasonsigar - April 12, 2006 12:05 PM (GMT)
do you think they discontinued them in Austrlia too?

I haven't seen too many of them around nowadays.

:(

Djf - April 12, 2006 12:10 PM (GMT)
FWAHAHAHA

SOME ONE SET US UP THE BOMB

ALL YOUR HGG ARE BELONG TO US !!!

I HOLD ALL HGGS

FWAHAHAHA

Ivan the Terrible - April 12, 2006 01:02 PM (GMT)
damm, i have to go buy them quick

Eso - April 12, 2006 01:10 PM (GMT)
Which Pentel did you email? If it was the USA one, then that answer is expected... Else, holy crap! :o

Rocky - April 12, 2006 01:15 PM (GMT)
Obviously they were discontinued in USA so if you mailed Pentel USA then we already know...

InhumanElmo - April 12, 2006 01:20 PM (GMT)
Again im not exactly sure. I went to Pentel.com. I haven't seen any signs of a country specified pentel site so...

Eso - April 12, 2006 01:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's the USA branch's site. I didn't think Pentel Japan would quit producing HGGs since they're selling pretty well. At least, I think they're selling well.

InhumanElmo - April 12, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
Well, i don't know japanese, but i took a blind look around the japanese site, but i didn't see any HGGs. Only Hybrid Technicas or sumthin like that. Im going to email them again and ask about Japan. But all i know is that in the US we are HGGless...

DkGamer - April 12, 2006 04:33 PM (GMT)
in reality the hgg production was stopped quite a long time ago. the existing hggs in stock are the ones which were leftovers and sold to other shops. they stopped it bascially because they had "better" versions such as the hybrid technica. well, dont forget that their main aim is to promote a more comfortable writing experience than parts used for pen spinning.

slickhare - April 12, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
*sheds tear for HGG* let's have a moment of silence for one of the most used pens in PS....

fung0wd0d41 - April 12, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)

hggs have been discontinued for quite a while now. and still, there are many all over the world. so i don't think its much to worry about.

InhumanElmo - April 12, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
Well on the east coast of the US they're hard to find. Im still hunting tho. Everywhere I go if I see an HGG or HGR im gonna whine to my parents to buy it for me (if i dun have money). If I did I would buy like a bunch of packs and have my parents buy me more!

Why would you say the HGR is good enough? I'm worried that the HGG grip will be no more. I could care less about the tip.

I also think that the HGG grips are the better ones. But I just don't wanted to make some people cry ;)

P.S. In germany there are masses of HGG's. In all colors^^

darkinertia - April 13, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
meh, i dont really care. the MX sux(IN MY FUCKING OPINION, for all you softies that get emo on me) and the only real useful thing i like is the tip so im good. plus my fave pen is the SPS anyway. they BETTER not take the g2 away anytime soon

TurbulentTurtle - April 13, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
I seriously doubt they'll discontinue the G2 series. It's doing pretty good IMO.

yea same here, they are really nice pens for writing too

xz64 - April 13, 2006 01:15 AM (GMT)
Why would they discontinue when the package says "#1 Selling Gel pen in USA" or something like that?

TurbulentTurtle - April 13, 2006 01:21 AM (GMT)
Have you actually ever tried to write with a HGG? It's like trying to write a message out with with a piece of poo that's been left out in the sun for an hour. But then you soaked it in some water to see if it can get some of it's moisture back, but the poo just broke apart so you're kinda smearing the pieces onto the paper hoping it will stay on and your message will be ok.

xz64 - April 13, 2006 01:23 AM (GMT)
I write with my pink hgg a lot in science class.. It writes pretty smooth most of the time, but if I want smoother, I write with a supergel 0.7

InhumanElmo - April 13, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
Why doesn't Pentel Embrace the PS community? I mean the MX is made with BOTH of THEIR PENS!!!! I mean seriously, they could easily just make them... for a reasonable price of course. /rant

TurbulentTurtle - April 13, 2006 02:01 AM (GMT)
Because there aren't too many people who need those pens. It's not a big enough market.

DkGamer - April 13, 2006 02:08 AM (GMT)
They DO know about the pen spinning community. But the market is not big enough for them to make much profit. That is probably why don't "embrace" the PS community.

Tenku069 - April 13, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
one hgg left.... i jsut got one.... one.... :GLOOMY: :( that ffucking sucks.... there was so many hggs next to my house... the next thing you know everyone buys it and they discontinue... thats bullshit

Djf - April 13, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
I got heaps of hgg but if ya want them i'm trading at a ratio of 2 rsvp for one hgg.

That's cause hggs are $3 each in Australia,=/

jasonsigar - April 13, 2006 07:55 AM (GMT)
dammit, now i gotta drag my ass over to the shops and looks for some. I'm pretty sure they got a few left.

Joshua - April 13, 2006 02:36 PM (GMT)
yeah, I'm not gonna lie. I'm stocking up right now. The only thing is, they don't sell them here in the states. All we have are these "Milky pens" which write better than HGG, but theres no grip.. At least I still have the tip then, I guess.

OH YEA, those are nice.... the tips are exactly the same i believe

TurbulentTurtle - April 14, 2006 05:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah they're the exact same. Same company, pretty much same model and everything. Only without the nice HGG grip.
