Title: Anyone Else?
stollz - August 1, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
dose anyone else not pay attention to the trick names and how to do them, but you just freestyle without knowing the names?
ShortAssassin - August 1, 2007 03:24 AM (GMT)
When I first started I'd try to do things like Ext. TA without knowing that it was a named trick, but nowadays there's nothing I do that I don't have at least some idea what the name of it is.

no
absolutley not.
i have no idea what that would look like.
it would probably look like that one retard pen spinning to 50 cent.

haha I hate that video
I pretty much know the name of every trick I do, & how to notate it if it's an aerial variation or a hybrid... Even if i invented a trick, I'd probably know how to notate it based on established convention

That dude had that "got milf" t-shirt haha. Anyways, when I freestyle, yeah. My brain is a little more ahead of my fingers

Not sure what you're asking, but I pretty much know the names of the tricks I do, I don't pay too much attention though.

Ahahaha, I nearly forgot this video, I was with my friend, and he said « He gots some certain skills »
Dudee WTF ?
And to answer to your question, when I freestyle, I don't really know what trick I am going to do , but I certainly know the names of the tricks I am doing
Zombo - August 1, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
I think he's talking about randomly linking combos and not exactly being conscious of what trick you're really doing.

I know the name of every trick I do and if I ever do a trick by accident, I can almost always identify it.
When I freestyle I don't think 'Just done MiddleAround must do ThumbAround next'. It just flows, but I can see and identify each trick as I go.

I do some hybrids that I don't know the names for.

Ask. That's whats the forum for.

@Duck_Soup:
Most hybrids don't have names, that's the point of the Interupted Trick Notation. You should learn as many full tricks as you can, then figure out what you split apart to make the hybrid.
@stollz:
Anyway, I just do whatever I feel like doing. Since I like to think that I know most trick names, I don't have any problem not knowing what's going on. I don't exactly keep track of everything when I do it, but I can remember the general feel of the pen. If it moved in an interesting way, I can recreate it then rember what I did fro future reference.
Same thing for unintended hybrids, I rember what the pen did, then figure out how to explain it later with the notation. Fairly straight forward in my view.
TurbulentTurtle - August 2, 2007 01:52 PM (GMT)
Very rarely would I actually think about the names of the tricks when I'm freestyling since I spin a lot faster than I think and it would be hard to do so unless I already have the combo in my mind and I'm doing it as I think about it.
But when freestyling you're just doing whatever feels right at the moments so you're not really too sure what trick is coming up next, so it's harder.
If you're talking about whether people know the names of the tricks they're doing, then generally they would. Because when you're learning a trick, it's just normal to also know what it is you're learning.

When I'm using lots of hybrids I can't really think what I'm exactly doing although I have general idea of it.
