ok wtf, was the theme "cliche and completely predictable"??
Flip did an extremely easy combo, then his signature triangle pass, mats again (like always) didnt do a combo, but 3 groups of tricks, being continuous arounds, elbow pops and infinities.
i freakin nulled.
Peace - August 6, 2007 12:08 PM (GMT)
I didn't do any cont arounds :)
my combo is something like Arounds and passes > RH > double TA > Elbow catch > elbow pop 180 > arm roll (down) > infinities or something > TA

well then you were like facing away from the camera so i couldnt tell what the fuck you were doing....
thats like me trying to show you all the cool faces i can make, while my back is turned....

Flip, you need a camera with a better frame rate. It looks like you're spinning 2 pens.
ShortAssassin - August 6, 2007 04:06 PM (GMT)
Maybe it's just me, but I can't look at an elbow pop/throw/catch and consider it PSing. Maybe if you did a TA Release and it landed on the inside of your elbow still spinning. Same thing with the hand transfers that just involve throwing and catching without imparting any spin on the pen. Again, if you TA Release and catch it in your other hand and continue spinning that would be fine.
What you are doing, Mats, I would define as pen tricking or something like that. You do some PSing, but you also do some things that, IMO, don't belong to the PSing category.

pen spinning = spinning of the pen. I don't think it says "pen spinning with the hands"

AHAHAHA
You can do that one.
Pen spinning - Manipulation of a pen? I think that's what I'm doing eh?
My next combo is going to test the very limits of what pen spinning is B)

pen up your nose?

I never said that a TA Release > Elbow Spin was do-able, it was just an example :)
Edit: And no, I don't beleive pen spinning = manipulation of a pen. Certainly it is a type of manipulation of a pen, but it doesn't include all manipulations. If I submitted a video of me eating a pen to WT09 do you think the judge would give me any points? Surely it is difficult, creative, potentially smooth based on my chewing, I could eat a variety of pens, and the filming wouldn't be difficult. But it isn't pen spinning.

My combo wasn't as good as the ones I normally do, but I wouldn't label it as "extremely easy". Considering I have even touched a pen in the last week up until yesterday, I thought it was alright. Some of the linkings in the combo were kind of hard. As for it being cliche, the following tricks/minicombos I haven't seen performed too often (The Square Pass and the Neobak ~ ScissorSpin ~ Neobak ~ ScissorSpin).

Alex made me lol. haha <3
This battle was.. meh.
Mats, I was trying to see the combo you were doing, but it was hard when you weren't facing the camera well enough. I understand why you had to with the elbow bumps and all, but I think it was a decision that led to the downfall of the combo. A better angle would've brought this one up farther in my book.
Flip.. Hmmm.. its tough to say what I want to about your combo. Not smooth. Not linked well. Overall not presented in a very good manner. Almost like you didn't take a latter battle seriously (even though its for fun, from what I hear?). Your triangle passes are amazing, though, and the flow of the combo would've been fine, had you worked on the linking and smoothed out the edges of the combo.
Vote goes to Mats, for inadvertently flexing his bicep on camera.

Damn you Flip. I want to get my TrI pass at least half as good as yours. Vote went to.... *muahahaha you will never know*
Flip - August 12, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
Flip: 16
Mats: 14
Flip wins.
(Mats informed that
the challenge thread stated only a 5 day poll, not 7)
