Title: Colors Of Pens Influence Your Spinning?

Floating Duck - August 7, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
Im sure this has been talked about in the Research Department but im just wonder what everyone thinks about it?

I myself notice i spin better with my all black Rsvp Mx then my red to green Rsvp mx.

so im wondering if this is a load of shit or does anyone else feel the same as me?

this is the question if i wasnt clear enough in my post;
Does the colors on your pen influence your style or how well you spin?

platypusvictim9 - August 7, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Yea, It's gotta have some influence, but how much I'm not sure.

Zombo - August 7, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
hmm sure, just like red incites fast speed when driving.

i think the effects are psychological rather than related to pen spinning per se.

patrick - August 7, 2007 11:24 PM (GMT)
yep, I just don't want to spin an ugly pen :P

well I can more enjoy spinning when I like the pen...

other thesis:
you ever heard of this asian color stuff? :ninja:

red: makes you more concentrated but to much red makes you aggressive...
orange: makes you relaxed
blue: concentrated but has more harmony like red because water is also rly relaxed...
and so forth

maybe this has also a bit influence B)

but I think first of all you've to like the colors of you pen... I wouldn't spin with an all blue RSVP... it's so

I tend to spin better with a light colored pen. It makes it easier to see.

ShortAssassin - August 8, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Well, before I switched to all black I used to constantly change my MX to try and make it look cooler. I guess maybe sometimes if I was spinning and I thought it looked bad I wouldn't spin as well, but I'm not sure. All black for life though.

rookee - August 8, 2007 03:33 AM (GMT)
Black and silver or white.

walkingjacket - August 8, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
I doubt colours would do much...

Buuut with people watching, and knowing that you're spinning a crappy pen...

Uh. Not sure how to complete that sentence.

ShadowPen - August 8, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
My pen is black and gold (-ish) I don't really think colour has anything to do w/ your pen spinning. Maybe just preference and how easy it is to see. Or it could influence just a tiny bit but not to the point of someone spinning like:
"UGH. MY PEN IS SO UGLY. -spinning furiously- :spin: "
I mean, if you like your pen, wouldn't you spin it more? And therefore be better at pen spinning?

Dark Angel-REX - August 9, 2007 01:44 PM (GMT)
a pen only made up of Red Yellow and Blue could make you crazy psychologically

xshadowfire - August 9, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
i think it might also be the fact that they're not 100% identical...i can tell you for a fact that none of my 3 mxs are identical in weight or balance.

firebird - August 9, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
I think it has 0 influence.

deathangel - August 10, 2007 06:37 AM (GMT)
i dun even look at my pen when i spin. lol

DaThroat - August 10, 2007 07:10 AM (GMT)
colours like blue and sky blue make me feel calmer and more serene when i spin, even though i'm not looking at my pen.

its just the thought that i am spinning a blue pen which gives me this feeling. if only i could trick myself into thinking the pen is sky blue.

TurbulentTurtle - August 10, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
Yeah I'm with DeathAngel on this one. I don't usually look at my pen when I'm spinning, so colour doesn't have that big of an influence on my style. And even when I am looking at my pen while spinning, colour doesn't really change the way I spin, or how I feel while spinning.
Like Zombo said, it's more of a psychological thing and the feelings we associate with specific colours.

when it comes to angles, and actually filming your combo, the colour can have a big affect on the final product, both frame rate wise and visual-wise.

Other than that, it does not really have a big effect on me.

This is true, since if you're filming a combo in direct light with a white background, it might not be a good idea to use a light coloured pen over one with darker colours.
