QUOTE
here's some details that are important but not inherently clear in the rules.

-Burn vs Spend: Spending means assigning some of your energy points for activating a power/attack/defense. The energy spent is replenished at the beginning of next round.

Burning refers to permanentely deducting a certain amount from your energy pool.

If you play MTG, spending is akin to tapping your land, burning is sacrificing your land.

-Bidding: all powers will be listed in the auction AT ONCE. You must then bid on the powers that you want. Not bidding is like bidding 0. You can only bid a cumulative total amount less than 100 (which is your total energy). In other words, you can't bid 99 on every power, win one of them and have your bids retracted all other auctions.

-Discard: At any time, you can choose discard one of your powers, unless stated otherwise. This may be useful if you want to stop the effects on a certain power that you own.

-Curses: These are powers with negative effects and cannot be discarded. They are won by the LOWEST bidder not the highest. You normally want to avoid them as much as possible by bidding high on them. Remember that not bidding is equal to bidding 0.

so... there's a few powers that I'm interested it. How about we (informally) negotiate deals?

Like for example, if you really want a power then I promise I won't bid on it and make it easier for you to have it, while you owe a favor.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:12 PM (GMT)
Is the Plague considered a curse is what I'm wondering.

No. If it doesn't say it is a curse, then it isn't a curse.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
Ok cool.

Zombo - August 10, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
one trick pony IS a curse though, clearly.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
Ok, I've got a list of 6 or so that I'm interested in with 3 top choices.

so you wanna bribe me in not bidding for them? :)

rookee - August 10, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
Short, just remember, the energy you are left with after all the powers you win, that is your energy you start with. Just wanna make that clear.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot there was no MAX health in solo.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
Well, I feel that if I reveal them I give away part of my strategy.

Zombo - August 10, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
alright, i feel like short-term alliances are beneficial in the early game.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Sorry, another question, are some powers static. Like, you don't have to use them to take effect. For example, Titanium Skin and Vampiric Bite. Do you have to activate them every round or are they just there.

rookee - August 10, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
Titanium skin is 50 points for the game, and I will put that in your skills with a (50/50). Vampire Bite is automatically used when you deal damage.

powers are usually always in effect, except when a cost is associated with it (burn or spend)

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
Ok, cool.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
Well, Zombo, I've got 3 main powers that I want. I'm not sure how it will work out because I have to bid for One Trick Pony as well and I'm sure others will want the same powers, but if you wanna try to work something out that's fine with me.

rookee - August 10, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
Just remember no communication about Rumble out of this thread is allowed with other players of this game.

Zombo - August 10, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
ok well which one do you really want? i'll see if I can give it to you

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
Well I need all 3 for my strategy to work, as it involves the synergy of the three, but I suppose I can say this one and not give away my strategy.

Expert Training.

Zombo - August 10, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
well... I expect massive overpayment to get expert training, but you have my word that I won't bid on it (if you accept to owe me a favor, of course)!

Good luck getting all 3 tho... it will take a lot away from you.

especially if one of them is expert rtaining.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
I suppose my strategy works without it, just not as well. I can promise not to bid on something Zombo, as long as it's not one of the other two powers I want :).

Btw, this game owns face already, and we haven't even started the real game yet lol.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I think I can replace Expert Training.

rookee - August 10, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
I love how theres 2 players chatting in this thread while theres actually 5 players on right now.

Zombo - August 10, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
so you want it or not?

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 09:52 PM (GMT)
@Rookee: That's what I go through in the mafia thread lol.

@Zombo: If other's show an interest in it I'll pass it up. The other choice may even be better.

I guess you can go ahead and bid on it, I'll try to get my new one.

strat1227 - August 10, 2007 09:57 PM (GMT)
hey zombo, im in the same mindset as you that aliances are key for this game.

you down?

so no deal?

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 10:00 PM (GMT)
We can make a deal for a different power if you want. What are you looking at?

Zombo - August 10, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
well im not really big spender, so i doubt i need help on bidding, but surely during the game, i would request a favor (a few extra attack points to finish off someone, for example), it would be appreciated.

ShortAssassin - August 10, 2007 10:04 PM (GMT)
Ahh, I see. Well, I just realized another power works for me aswell, so I'm currently working on a preliminary spending list. I'll get back to ya in a bit.

JooJoo - August 10, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
I think i should have thought this through a bit more but it'll be interesting. Question, are the bidders notified of the powers they win or is each hero aware of what everyone else won?

If we know who has what power, i think you guys know that some people will be needed to be taken out very quickly <_<

rookee - August 10, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
Everyone will know. Everyone will die. Except 1 person. He will win. Oh, he will survive.

Flip - August 10, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
Is anyone else going for glass sword?

CheeseLord - August 10, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
Well, I know I'm going to die early on... so many alliances, and I don't know anybody here. :help:

rookee - August 10, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
Alliances cause betrayal, which leads to death. Only 1 can win guys. Just think about how you will resolve the conflicts in the end.
