Title: How Long It Takes To Learn A Fingerpass Smoothly.

Raonin - August 12, 2007 08:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I've been practicing this one for a while now and Wow... Just how long on average does it take to be able to move it down and back up your fingers constantly in a smooth orderlyness-ness... Thanks.

Ivan the Terrible - August 12, 2007 09:35 AM (GMT)
Depends how much you practice and with what you practice. The heavier the object the easier it will be. Just continue practicing it and you will get it.

ShoeMan - August 12, 2007 09:39 AM (GMT)
too long

amen :\

::Chun:: - August 12, 2007 11:25 AM (GMT)
i think it is quite hard for u to spin the fingerpass smoothly, i can't even do like that.

Drazer - August 12, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
it only took me about a week to get it down smoothly

Dark Angel-REX - August 12, 2007 02:34 PM (GMT)
took me a month!

Zombo - August 12, 2007 02:37 PM (GMT)
moved.

Reminiscent - August 12, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
I can do it smoothly forward, but then after you have to learn reverse. Takes wayyy too long.

DaThroat - August 12, 2007 03:31 PM (GMT)
i used to be able to.. but now when i do it, the pen keeps slipping and slipping until i reach infinity position :banghead: :banghead:

Drazer - August 12, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
i can do the reverse fingerpass really good but the reg one i'm not as good with, but i normaly go from fingerpass into an infinity and back and it looks really cool

Tainted Elements - August 12, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
took me rev fingerpass two days straight to master it.
my normal fingerpass is barely smooth.

Surge - August 12, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Your fingers need time to gain strength and flexibility. I'd say with practice every day about 4 months.

4 months to do the finger pass smoothly?! that is way to long. should take a lot less time then that

pilF - August 13, 2007 12:44 AM (GMT)
Fingerpass Normal was the first trick I learned and I got it at an acceptable smoothness somewhat quickly. You can't really get to a point where you can't improve your Fingerpass though. I've been spinning for a year and a half and I still practice Fingerpass Normal/Reverse every so often. It's a good trick to practice in school.

Depends on your definition of smooth.

isn't choppy, in one fluid motion. it should not take 4 months to get a finger pass to not be choppy and in a fluid motion

Tainted Elements - August 13, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
it does if thats the only damn thing you do.

us pen spinners (or at least me) learn more tricks to improve dexterity before mastering fingerpass.

dexterity is the most important key to mastering any pen trick.

TayYH89 - August 13, 2007 03:55 AM (GMT)
Check out the pentrix videos. If you do the FingerPass like kam, then I would consider that smooth.

I wouldn't count on the FingerPass Reverse video though. It isn't that smooth.

haulfunk1 - August 13, 2007 07:43 AM (GMT)
I think fingerpass is not easy trick that you need to learn only for a week....it takes a month before you can do it smoothly........ :teach:
just practice and later you can do pass smoothly........

xshadowfire - August 13, 2007 09:58 AM (GMT)
i didn't get a smooth fingerpass with a ~mx weight pen until after almost 10 months. but then again i never really practiced it.

i can do it smoother then the video and it only took me like a week to get it that smooth

CheeseLord - August 13, 2007 04:35 PM (GMT)
I'm still working on it... I've been trying for 6 days. The problem is the pass 43-32.

FireFaith - August 14, 2007 11:14 AM (GMT)
woh, good question there. I've been doing then in like two years now, still it isn't that smooth. so, never give up on that trick. It must get smooth sometime?

IMO you do not have fingerpass mastered until you can do it as fast as Eriror or Bonkura. In which case most people will never really master finger pass (or reverse) ever.

deathangel - August 14, 2007 09:50 PM (GMT)
one full day for fingerpass normal. and its smoother than kam. but as i learn more tricks, the fingerpass seems to get worse

daryck101 - August 14, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
fingerpass is pretty hard to get smooth it might take awhile

faulk - August 14, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
The smoothness of my fingerpass depends on the time of day, the weather, how much homework I have, and whether or not I got my favorite foods for dinner.

CheeseLord - August 15, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
Wow, that's a lot of variables... Mine sucks. Always.

I can't do the pass 43-32 immediately after the pass 23-34, so I have a little pause. My middle finger doesn't move fast enough. :banghead:

Look Into the Sun - August 15, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
It took me about a week to get it somewhat smooth.

CheeseLord - August 15, 2007 04:03 AM (GMT)
Yay, I finally can do it with little or no pause. Now I need to work on speed. I learned fingerpass months ago, but I never really practiced until about a week ago.

Drazer - August 15, 2007 12:47 PM (GMT)
i can't belive it takes so many people so long to learn how to do this simple trick smoothly, it took my less then a week, a friend of mine 2 days and other friends of mine inbetween 2 days and a week and a half. :blaugh: :spin:

again, vid?

jackolanternsoup - August 17, 2007 11:49 AM (GMT)
wow.. that's fast... i don't really practice it that much but it's not smooth... i get too distracted with bakfalls and other stuff lol

Kjello - August 21, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
I've done it all the time at school for like 4 years or more, i don't remember. Still i can't do it smoothly unless the pen is very small, like 6cm. Probably about my hand, i don't know, but i guess i'll once learn it very smoothly.

sorry, i can't get a video, my camra and video recorder are both broken

cyshing - August 22, 2007 10:50 AM (GMT)
IMO, fingerpass need to be practised everyday and for atleast spinning 15 minutes non-stop(if it drops, just take up and continue, btw, dont put too much stress on your hand and fingers).

My experience is i can't do fingerpass smoothly eventhough it was my 1st do ps trick without knowing the existence of pro psing few years ago. When i practise it frequently i'll get it smoothly but if i stopped just for 2~3 days, it's back to not smooth again.

And i think it is a trick that need warming up(do fingerpass slowly first) before starting the fingerpass seriously. IMO, almost all pass tricks need frequently practices.

K4S - August 23, 2007 06:47 AM (GMT)
Anyone who says they have a fast and smooth fingerpass with a pen after only a month or less is full of shit unless they post a vid. If you do prove you have a good fingerpass then you have my respect but otherwise its all lies.

deathangel - August 23, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
this is me when i started. i think the fingerpass is alright eh?
