Title: Embarrassing Musical Moments

kensai - August 13, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
I got caught in Grade 4 or 5 for singing MMMBop in class.

Around the same time my mum caught me listening to the Spice Girls on a secret radio I kept under my pillow one night.

Slitherzpin - August 13, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)

your mom doesn't want you to listen to the spice girls?

K4S - August 13, 2007 06:49 PM (GMT)
I dont see a reason to criticize anyone on the music they listen to :dunno: Everyone has their own tastes.

Joshua - August 13, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
I think you're missing the point, Zombo. Its not that his mom didn't want him listening to it, its that she caught him listening to it, when he thought no one knew.

/shrug

Whats wrong with listening to the spice girls, though?

I can honestly say that I can sing any *nsync song off the top of my head, and I don't think theres anything wrong with that. Does it make me any less of a man?

Zombo - August 13, 2007 06:54 PM (GMT)
no but why would you keep a secret radio under a pillow.

firebird - August 13, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
Nothing much. Just goofing up a few times at recitals. I don't blame myself because I was very nervous every time. Also, I'd downloaded some rap songs a long time ago and my dad listened to one of them out of curiosity (he doesn't like swearing) but I don't care. I wasn't embarrassed even though I was in the next room.

I've shown some death metal music from my own band to my boss when I was working in Yellow Pages. Was funny cuz he listened to it so freaking loud the the nearby cubicles could all hear it.

So he could listen to the Spice Girls. Jeez. This isn't hard. haha

I totally messed up on a national competition, I forgot the end of the song and just stood there. After I just made a nice bow and got out of there :)

The next day I figured I was playing some of the tones wrong :D still got silver though.

I also messed up the first time I played my solo infront of the band. I felt kinda ashamed but hey everyone messes up.

Zombo - August 13, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
but then the only reason he has to keep a SECRET radio is because his mom would not let him listen thus contradicting your former post.

UnEmploymentDude - August 13, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
IF YOU WANNA BE MY LOVA YOU GOT TO GET WITH MY FRIENDS!

Kazzze - August 13, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)

Retro-spectre - August 13, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
(UCPSB idol comp would need to be "Never gonna give you up...")

I got caught listening to Man Cow Muller at like 1 AM, when I was a kid. For those who don't know who Man Cow is... I pity you.

Hmm, i remember back in my band days.

Our school band went to a competition. The band was divided into small groups, trios or quartets and such. I was in a quartet of saxophones (I was the Bari) and we played our piece for a judge. Not to seem arrogant but we were really good. The judge, after listening to us, said "You guys need to take private lessons." We were all like WTF :banghead:  We all looked at eachother not knowing what to say. Noticing our grief the judge said he meant that in a good way. We were so good he wanted us to further our skills by getting some private instruction. 2 years later, i quit band,

Crzyazn - August 14, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
I forgot my music in a chamber music evaluation and had to play from memory (I messed up, duh)

Eriror - August 14, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
I had to sing Ayreon - Beyond the Last Horizon in front of the class once, and I forgot the intro took 2 minutes. So I had to stand there for 2 minutes, nervous, before I could actually sing. >_>

kensai - August 14, 2007 11:12 AM (GMT)
Hmm actually, the radio was a secret because I was supposed to be sleeping when I was listening to the radio.

And that time I got caught singing MMMBop...I remember it was a science lesson and my friend kept telling everyone I was singing it. I still hate that song but from time to time I wonder whether I'm in denial.

I messed up playing a piece of blues (solo piano) in the college award ceremony earlier this year. Had to start the piece again and make up a new ending for it on the spot 2nd time through since I lost where I was in the music (all down to nerves). That was one of the worst moments of my life :)

Zombo - August 14, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)
mats, u still here?

Peace - August 14, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
Erm, ya :(

But if you are going to suggest I take over ladder again or something, I'd really rather not, I'm far too unreliable (though I will do it if you really want).

Umm, I owe you a favour too still Zombo

I thought of another one... I wrote a piece of music to perform at a college concert, when it came to just before the concert, I realised I had lost the score, and had to make best I could of one from memory. Upon finishing playing the piece (which did go okay), I picked up the next piece I was to play, only for the score I had so much needed for the other piece to fall out of it.
