these pens have no name. Only maker thing found on it is Innovative Designs.

weighs much more balanced than a ballsign. No lobsidded pen barrel. have ComSSa style caps or Bonkura style caps. The caps can also be placed on a ComSSa to achieve a full Translucent ComSSa. you can add Dr. Grip ballpoint pen tips with anyball holding it. Works quite nicely. very very nice pen. I believe this kills the ballsign. AMERICA FTW!

@AlmightyMalachi: a lot of Americans could already go to Michaels Arts & Crafts and get Sakura Gelly Rolls, which are the same as Ballsigns. But, um...good job with that.

*split posts into separate topic so they don't get buried in the "Show Your Pens" thread*

There's this Aqua thingy thats identical to Gellyroll/Ballsign. Yo can obtain Ballsign and gellyroll easily in Asian shops in America.

AlmightyMalachi - August 17, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
i call it the american ballsign because of the cap style length. it's more a substitute than anything. still though, it is a great pen. the caps go on absolutely anything. can substitute for comSSa's, Ballsigns, over the fronts of RSVP's and, HGG comSSa.

Petty cool find, but they look ugly IMO. Are their any cartoon versions, with different cap colors?

UnEmploymentDude - August 18, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
I dont know about you guys but, american ballsigns are shorter than real ones. And the read ballsigns are short as it is.

Not true, aqualip, gelly roll, and ballsign all have the same size & length for bodies & caps... and they are also completely unlike this pen

Dude the body is shorter.

Where did you find this pen?

Element - August 22, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
i kinda see no point in this, in my perspective, because we have ballsigns at my local art store in america.

but good find none the less.

Ok, I have gelly roll, ballsign, & aqualip bodies, in fact I have them in a row in front of me, I also have an identical pen that contains fabric ink that says Clover on it, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. You're wrong, maybe there is a 2mm deviation that just happened somehow but the only difference in the pens is cap & ink.

AlmightyMalachi - August 23, 2007 05:42 AM (GMT)
they're at target

Actually UED is right, the Japanese ballsign body is longer. At the socal gathering I compared my American ballsign with his and there was a noticeable difference in body length, not just 2mm.

Also I dont think this pen should be called a ballsign alternative because its completely different from a ballsign.

frisbee - August 23, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
No, it didn't... you left the caps on or somehow had a malformed body.

Oh look! A picture! I wonder whats in it? Let's start from top to bottom:

-Ballsign body from penwish
-Ballsign body I traded for
-Ballsign body I traded for
-Ballsign body from penwish
-Aqualip body from jetpens
-Gelly roll body
-Gelly roll body (glittery variation)

As you can see, they are all the exact same length! And magically, they are also the same in every other measure of dimension! It's almost as if they were ALL MADE IN THE SAME FUCKING FACTORY TO THE SAME STANDARD FOR ALL OF SAKURA'S GEL PENS!

UnEmploymentDude - August 23, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
Lets agree to disagree, sorry for the crappy saying but can we?

I dont know why at both gatherings my Japanese ballsign was longer than the Americans. None of my caps are deformed in anyway and even forcing the cap dpwn doesnt make it that much longer. Lets for the moment, assume we have different models. Cool?

this isa [ertty old topic i guess but just wondering, did u really get them at target? cuz at my target store i cant find those....those r awsome pens btw since they replace comssa caps which i cant find or afford

AlmightyMalachi - September 12, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
yes i did get them at target, they're one of the stores seasonal pens. I'm not sure if it's just a store to store thing. I work there, and on the planogram it's set as a universal layout for most stores. so idk *shrugs*

OneOutlander - November 10, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
You can find gelly rolls and a good amount of other japanese pens in Japenese stores in the states.

In the 2 malls near my house they both have at least one Japanese store that sells pens among other things.

Thats where I get HGGs occasionally
