On average, what's movement do you find the best in a (classical) composition?

I personally find the last movement to always be the best, and the second movement to always be the weakest.

In terms of notoriety, I think first movements are usually more known (Tchaikovsky Pn Concerto #1, Beethoven Symphony #5, Grieg Pn Concerto) altho there are some famous last movements (Beethoven Symph #9, Dvorak Symphony #9) but I have yet to find a piece where the second movement is the best... :(

I find the 2nd movement of the pathetique sonata is the best. So calm and relaxed. The 2nd movement of the Rach 2 is hardly weak, I would say in the piece, all movements are equal.
But yeah, in general, the first and last are the best. I prefer the 1st usually however.
I guess people don't like slow movements as much as faster ones.

yea those are good examples of strong 2nd movements, but they're not the best IMO (in Pathetique the 1rst is the best, in Rach 2, I find the 3rd mvmt far superior)

Last, because I love Bach's chorales...

I love any movement which involves my pen-is.

Last movement definatly. like (well i'm a Vivaldi/Tchaikovsky fan) they pwn pretty good. Well it's because it's the last. second movement is like just not giving me excitement...well that's the purpose though i know but...


so last movement. i play violin, but i stopped playing. My bro's going pro with it, i went to his concert for Long Island Whatever thingy when he was placed 1st place.


I kinda accept all music. I actually like any music

I was just listening to Beethoven, and remembered the Emperor Concerto probably has the best 2nd movement of any <3
