Title: [ladder-a] Flip Vs. Foofdude (30th Aug)
Flip - August 20, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
Hey you want to battle?
Theme: No trick may be used more than one time in the combo
Example: If you do a Twisted Sonic 23-12, then you can't do Twisted Sonic 34-23, Twisted Sonic 12-T1, or another Twisted Sonic 23-12 in the combo. However, you can do a Twisted Sonic Reverse or a hybrid using Twisted Sonic (such as Devil's Sonic). Also, if you do a TA, you can't do a IA, MA, or RA. If you do a Bakaround, you can't do a midbak, a ringbak or a pinkybak in the combo.
Time limit: less than 20 seconds
Due Date: (will decide later)
Public Poll to run for 5 days.
If you have any questions on the theme let me know.
Accept?

sounds like a cool battle.
Foofdude - August 20, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
I accept.
Do passes follow the same rule? So if I do a pass 12-23 normal, I can only do another pass reverse? Also, does a TS 1.5 and a TS 2.0 count as different tricks?
Zombo - August 20, 2007 08:58 PM (GMT)
the example is not very good, since twisted sonic = charge ~ pass, meaning you cant charge nor pass if you do a twisted sonic.
Eburt - August 20, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
actually Flip said hybrids are alright, so yes Zombo, you could do both charge and pass seperately.
Flip - August 20, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
Ya, you can do TS 1.5 and TS 2.0 as different tricks. You can do one pass normal and one pass rev in the combo if you want, no more.
@zombo, All hyrbrid tricks I'm grouping to a single trick. So a Twisted Sonic is just a Twisted sonic, not a Charge ~ Pass rev for this purpose of this battle (if that makes sense).
Another example would be if you do a Shadow 12-12, you can't do any other shadows from any position to any other position. However you can still do hybrids incorporating shadows and a Shadow Reverse.

OK I think I get it. So since Inverse Twisted Sonic isn't a hybrid, it counts as both a charge and a pass?

Hmm for the sake of this battle, think of it as an Inverse variation of a Twisted Sonic instead of a Charge -> pass, just to keep things simpler.
Zombo - August 20, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
ok but what about unnamed hybrids.
then someone argue that the trick is not complete but hybridized.
because in its highest form, a smooth combo is ultimately a combo with long strings of hybrid tricks pipelined one unto another, with only breaks between major sections.

Yeah, Eburt said the same thing. I don't know, I guess I'll just deal with that if it ends up happening, but I don't want to make things too complicated.
Flip - August 22, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
How about 30th August for a due date?
Foofdude - August 22, 2007 01:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah August 30 is fine by me.
Foofdude - August 23, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
One more question. If do, say, a TA in my left hand, and then transfer to my right, can I do another TA in that hand?
Flip - August 23, 2007 09:53 PM (GMT)
hmm I'd say no, since that would kind of defeat the purpose of "not doing the same trick more than once".

Alright I have my video. I'll post the battle when you send me yours.
