While Windows is wasting processor power recycling, it's slowly dying. Maybe thats why Windows is so unreliable. I have 2 Macs, and they are way more awesome than this damn Windows piece of shit.

THEN CAN YOU EXPLAIN TO ME WHY PORN IS SO MUCH MORE SATISFYING ON A WINDOWS THAN A MAC?!

You can't play games on a Mac, and most programs online are only available for Windows.
Zombo - August 28, 2007 05:12 AM (GMT)
mac is alright for everyday use. The main problem is not in the product itself, but the price (overpriced as hell) and the proprietary attitude of the company, wihch makes their computers inflexible both hardware and software wise something which can't satisfy computer-savvy users.

Use an emulator.
Zbo, the G5 comes with so much shit you don't need to buy new hardware.
nateiskewl - August 28, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
Yes, I must admit that the G5 is a fine machine. It's just that macs aren't suited for the average person. But I just can't think of one thing that a Mac can do and an PC can't do, and for the price, I'd rather get a PC.
Dark Angel-REX - August 28, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)
I must admit Apple is the stupidest manufacturer.
They say there's less virus than Windows but that's because only stupid people use MAC, and smart people use Windows. No wonder why people wont make virus for Mac. there's no point.
Apple phail

Mac is higher priced and generally for more specific graphics oriented tasks. Movie and audio making and picture programs are infinitely better on the Mac. Also, Windows operating systems are inefficient (which is why they take up so much of your CPU) compared to a Mac and more likely to crash. Windows holds the advantage of being easier to manipulate for ordinary people. And Mac can come across as lacking software because Windows and microsoft hold such huge monopoly on software..
But if you're looking for hardcore graphics and video working, Mac is the way to go..

You're implying everyone who uses a mac has a low IQ? Wow, that's the most stupid thing I read today... Wait, it isn't, sorry. It's biased, though.
Dark Angel-REX - August 28, 2007 08:11 AM (GMT)
yea, i over said that. Some uber smart people could still use MAC. but windows is better. i have expierenced 4 years of MAC which ruined my time because of this and that.

It's like saying people who use Linux are stupid, cause only they use it. The smartest programmers in the world use Linux, and they choose that over Windows any day. You people are thinking of "better" in the sense of gaming machines over work and media editing capabilities. Although, Mac is quite a sexy gaming machine as well.

that's the thing, I don't want to use the fucking iTunes, I want to use FOOBAR
I don't want to use quicktime or whatever, I want to use MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC.
Just because it comes with softwares, doesn't mean it's the softwares I WANT.

Microsoft does have alot of money, but they built it up over time. You all have to admit that Vista does have some very nice features, some things like being asked permission to do everything can sometimes be disabled. Mac OS X looks nothing like Vista. Macs are great for somethings, PCs are good for everything. So here's my chart:
audio/video: Mac>PC>Linux
customize: Linux>PC>Mac
programming: PC>Linux>Mac
games: PC>Linux>Mac
K, some mod should close this thread. I just wanted it to be about what I noticed on OS X and Vista, and now it's a Mac vs. PC flame war.
BTW: Zombo, power to the PCs. :metal:
Eburt - August 28, 2007 06:06 PM (GMT)
WTF, programming? Linux is open source... you can program everything. Any other languages can be used on any of them. Gaming would be where PC really shines.
And no, I have to admit nothing about Vista. It sucks. Hardcore.
nateiskewl - August 28, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
Have you even tried it? Vista is open source, too, it's called BitTorrent.
And you can't say I'm biased because I have all three OS.
EDIT: I fixed my other post, I'm having a hard time typing today....

Vista is great, you suck.
I only like Linux for a couple of reasons, otherwise it's FreeBSD/Windows. Plus Slackware is fancy as shit and I've been using it for my servers for a few years.
Windows gets a lot of crap from Linuxfags.
Linux gets a lot of crap from Windozefags.
Windows rules, though. I hate Apache, too many security flaws :S
Zombo - August 28, 2007 06:28 PM (GMT)
vista is too slow, wait for service packs before using.
I need linux to run certain softwares because I don't want to use cygwin to emulate them on my windows machine.
nateiskewl - August 28, 2007 06:30 PM (GMT)
Dual boot Vista + Ubuntu = SWEET.
SWEET > OS X.
rookee - August 28, 2007 06:49 PM (GMT)
The fuck are you talking about.
Linux owns all systems in programming and hacking, because it doesn't waste processor power like Windows does. Vista is a piece of shit, I couldn't install it cause the graphics drivers aren't backwards compatible. Linux is completely for programmers, and theres no CS major that I know that doesn't use Linux. Linux vs Mac in gaming? Mac's gonna win.
Zombo - August 28, 2007 08:06 PM (GMT)
linux and macs are not designed for gaming, no point in comparing them for that.
it's like comparing what is best between the fork and the chopsticks for drinking soup. both suck.

nateiskewl - August 28, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
I said that because you can get just about everything for free on Torrents...
xshadowfire - August 28, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
open source: source is public.
are you a retard?
open source doesn't mean it's free...what a retard.

wtf? of course it means its free!
open source means the code is publicly revealed to the public (so that everybody can improve it)!!! how can you sell a product that you give away freely already!
edit: vista on the other hand, is PROPRIETARY, meaning the source is not shared. And it's not a FREEWARE, because you have to pay for it. Using a torrent means you're pirating your copy.
Retro-spectre - August 28, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
That's a bunch of bullshit.
Have you ever fucking heard of SuperFetch? Linux does the same thing with anachron, only when you're not using it. Vista uses SuperFetch so you can open applications FASTER. It is not any slower. If it's slow for you, that's your fucking computers fault. Misinformation. Misinformation. Misinformation.
Read up on fucking SuperFetch.
Cygwin is great, never had problems with it. IIS is great, too, way more security than Apache.
"Linux is completely for programmers, and theres no CS major that I know that doesn't use Linux." Bunch of bullshit. 'Hacker's? What the fuck are you on about? That's a bunch of utter bullshit.
Not to mention the fact that I've installed plenty of games using wine.
And last but not least: Ubuntu blows. (Yeah, I'm using three year-old Ubuntu on this laptop because I'm fucking lazy)
IN CONCLUSION:
This thread if UTTER BULLSHIT.
I've yet to hear a legit reason :(
Zombo - August 28, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
vista is slow and unresponsive, especially for lower-end machines (relative to windows XP). This is because they have not fully optimized the code yet before releasing the product. SP 1 will resolve most performance issues.
xshadowfire - August 28, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
ok let me rephrase that...free doesn't mean it's open source :/

| First up, I can say that there is a very noticeable performance increase. It is obvious that since Microsoft released Vista to manufacturing, it has been optimising the code ever since. (I suspect this revelation will fuel the fires of the people who say Vista was released before it was ready for prime-time.) There’s far less hard drive thrashing and in general the system seems much smoother and more responsive. |
