Title: Starting Fires
Lord Michael Davis - August 28, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
This is something me and my friends used to be (and are still kinda) heavily into. I got caught when I was about 14 by an off duty cop setting fire to part of a woodland with a guy from my estate (who is now in jail  ) and my best mate. Pretty much since then, we've started a few good fires a year, the last one (this easter) being almost as large as the bonfire my town has on bonfire night. We managed to light a fire off the ashes 3 days later and I would estimate that perhaps 400kgs of wood went into that fire (given 3 of us collected logs, yes logs, not sticks, for several hours to build up a stack of them about 3 foot high and 7 foot across). While it was at its peak, we had to stand a good 15 foot away from the flames due to the heat, and it had a beautiful blue glow to it in the centre. Perhaps next time we will start an even bigger fire, if we can find the materials to do it with
Anyone else into doing this kinda things? Anyone get caught or start one that got outta control?

Fires are nice. I don't mess with just plain fires though, I like synthesizing high explosives and things that detonate.
Nitroglycerin ftw.

Starting fires isnt that hard. Lighter fluid FTW!

I prefer a perchlorate composition, generally utilizing aluminum powder, since its so easy to obtain. Thermite is fun too. Ooo, and sodium can easily be made from table salt with the proper equipment. For those who haven't taken cemistry, all the group 1 metals (Lithium, Sodium, Potassium, ect) explode on contact with water. Fun stuff.

Sodium is not obtainable from table salt efficiently AT ALL.
Not to mention you said 'easily'. It 's a bitch. I've only known two people to do it.
I don't play with that shit anymore though. And I suggest you don't do it either. The government is a BITCH.

Well now you know three. I've done it.
Perhaps easily wasn't the best word, but its not really that hard. And it might not be efficient, but salt isn't that expensive. The most difficult part is just melting it...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lag_Baomer (god it's boring dont read this)
Lag Ba'Omer in modern Israel is a school holiday. Youngsters and their parents light bonfires in open spaces in cities and towns throughout the country. Students' Day is celebrated on the campuses of the various universities. Hundreds of weddings are held on Lag Ba'Omer and this adds to the festive character of this holiday.
In Israel, one knows that Lag Ba'Omer is drawing near when children begin collecting wood boards, old doors, and anything made from wood that can burn. This happens from a week to 10 days (more like 2 months!) before Lag Ba'Omer. As Lag Ba'Omer approaches, the situation gets to the point where building contractors have to employ extra night watchmen to make sure that wooden planks and scaffolding are not taken by the eager youngsters. And, of course, the fire department is kept very busy on Lag Ba'Omer eve when the bonfires are lit and where the danger exists of fires getting out of control.

most of the people dont really do it as a religious thing,, it's just cool when you have a day you can just light up a huge fire and it's okay!

Um, I would say that melting it is easy, what environment did you have it in?
BTW I CALL BULLSHIT, what was your setup.

Lithium barely explodes on contact, more like bubbles...
Only Potassium and below are worth doing. IMO.
