i think it spins a minimum of 1 spin and like it goes from 12-23
chanman123 - April 18, 2006 12:24 AM (GMT)
I did one in my challenge video with 003
Standard spin is 1.0
Starts from 12 and lands in 23
Start in ta reverse position and pass it onto the top of your middle finger,
When I do it, the cop should be left from the index finger, that is if you're starting in ta reverse position.

Flashy - April 18, 2006 02:05 AM (GMT)

Chanman's video helped me alot. I just need to know a bit more to understand how its done.
Does the pen always spin on the tip of your finger? (In chanman's video, it spun on 2 if I'm correct)

Is it a basketball spin if it does this:
Hold the pen between 12 like your going to do an index around. Spin it like an index around, but instead of the pen going around the index it spins on top of it (on the finger pad). After 1 rotation (can be done also with .5 rotations or 1+) the pen is caught in the starting position between 12. It never goes around the index or any other finger.
If it is not a basketball spin, what is it?
nike t - June 13, 2006 07:36 PM (GMT)
basketball spin goes clockwise, and indexaround goes counter, so just hold it like reverse index around and it spins on the middle finger, i think the default spins on the middle finger, the tip, and lands in 23

Is this what you're talking about Flip? I believe this is the index variation of sidespin.

When you're doing it, it usually spins on your middle finger with the index finger aiding it.
meaning that your pinky, ring, are usually stretched back while your index and middle are close together, not too close though.
But sometimes I can get a good spin right on my middle.
It's just how I do it.
Flip - June 13, 2006 08:26 PM (GMT)
Ya that is what I am talking about. Mine usually spin on the tip of the finger instead of the side though. You said that is a sidespin variation, so whats a normal side spin and other variations?
To keep this post on subject, is there a finger push (what finger if yes) with the basketball spin or is it just with wrist motion? I couldnt really tell from the video. Also, is the pen spinning on the tip of the finger or the finger pad?

Sidespin .5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOyoK9UMDzMThere's middle and ring variations. I'm not sure about pinky.

What makes basketball spin 1.0 different than inverse shadow 12-23 minus the half charge?
xz64 - July 30, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
There is a .5 spin on the tip of the middle finger while you are turning your middle finger upwards.
Then there is a .5 spin on the tip of the middle finger.
And then you catch pen. (0 rotations)
Total # of rotations for Basketball Spin : 1
The difference between them is that Inverse Shadow 12-23 minus the half charge spins lower towards the middle finger.
Zombo - July 30, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
the spin axis is totally different, in shadow the spin is parallel to your fingers.
yxTay - November 1, 2006 01:35 PM (GMT)
The BasketballSpin depends very much on the balance of the pen during the spin on the fingers and that by itself, is a delicate maneuver. I probably cannot provide any useful advice since I didn't really went through the process of learning it (kinda got it figured out quite long ago).
The following are videos of the BasketballSpin which I hope are of sufficient quality to be helpful.

| Le_Pub has such a nice basketball spin. I've never tried learning this myself. Isn't the motion generated by a pass? |
It's almost like a pass, expect that in a regular pass, the pen is perpendicular to your fingers, but in this trick, the pen is pushed with a pass motion but parallel to the fingers. That of course means you can't catch it like a pass. But you don't want to.
The real trick to this trick is getting the pen to spin exactly at its cop.

Yeah, that's hard. Thanks a lot Ivan. Zombo's tutorial helped me a lot and I can roughly do a shitty one. Not only that, I now know what PJs Zombo wears.

If I could find my basketball spin tutorial on my junk computer, I'd post it. Once I finally get that iSight, I'll just record another! :)

You guys do know that Zombo's jammies give him super spinning abilities, right?
I thought that was a sticky.
