Title: Korean Style

Simple questions. What exactly is Korean style? What are the signature minicombos/combos/tricks used?

Muchas gracias.

There is no one, clear defintion, but I'll try and come up with something unbiased that is generally thought to be Korean style.

Korean style: A style of pen spinning that focuses on smoothness and execution of tricks. Combos tend to be 10-30 seconds long, and feature often technically advanced, smooth, well executed spinning. Most Korean style spinners make freestyle combos. It tends to focus on tricks from the Charge, Sonic, Around, Pass and Through-spin families (though there has been more use of spin tricks as time has passed).

Common mini-combos used in 'Korean Style':
  • NeoBackAround 12-12 ~ FingerLess Pass 12-23 --> MiddleBackAround 1.5 23-23 --> MiddleBackAround 23-123
  • Extended ThumbAround --> FingerLess IndexAround
  • NeoSonic 12-T1 --> FingerLess Charge Reverse T1 --> FingerLess ThumbAround Reverse
  • FingerLess IndexAround Reverse ~ FingerLess ThumbAround Reverse

That are some of the most common and most popular mini-combos that are assosiated with the 'Korean Style', which mostly spread to the European and Asian countries.

Don't you tend to spin palm down K style? I don't know if that is a criteria ^^ wouldn't mind knowing because I mostly spin palm side... I dunno if it really makes a difference, goes good with my angle ^^

As far as I know, this style doesn't have a tendancy to lean to Palm Down tricks. That actually has been my style, but that wasn't 'Korean' at all.

Shouldn't it be NeoSonic 12-T1 --> FingerLess Reverse Charge T1 --> FingerLess ThumbAround Reverse? And isn't an Extended ThumbAround --> FingerLess IndexAround called a Extended TA Bust?

Thanks for the info though. Very helpful. I'm sure a number of newbies also wonder the same.

Hey, I just noticed my title was changed. :[ K Style sounds better than Korean Style imo.

Ugh, guys it's:

Neosonic 12-T1 > Thumbflap Charge Rev > FL TA rev

Three Passions - September 13, 2007 06:49 PM (GMT)
T1 = Thumbflap, same thing, IMO. Ext TA Bust is just a lazy naming for something that can be misinterpreted. Just use the correct naming.

Eriror indeed made a mistake with forgetting Reverse though. Korean style is still wrong. There's no thing as a Korean style.

Uses common mini combos in a well executed manner. usually difficult.

Also, a spinner from PDS/KPSA may be korean, but does not have the "korean" style.

Yet, Korean Style is commonly referred and talked about. So, I was wondering what the hell it was.

i think korean style is refered to when the pen spinning combo is fast, smooth (newer ones, old ones not very smooth), without many "new" tricks.

i also think korean style isn't wrong. its just an old school term for common combos.
