xz64 - March 2, 2006 04:16 AM (GMT)
The description helped me visualize the concept, I know how to do it but I can't do it that well.
Flashy - March 2, 2006 04:20 AM (GMT)
i can leigun prettty good, sometim es jus get outta hand though
im willing to teach anyone since wen i wanted to learn it, noone taught me and because its not harmfl
Petahpie - March 2, 2006 04:49 AM (GMT)
how is the pressure built up? from the way it looks theres nothing holding the pen in place which means you cant build pressure.

if you wanna no how to do it and the adding pressure part, add me to aim or pm me :D
chanman123 - March 2, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
There is no pressure being built up
It's a simple Clench of the fist which makes the pen fly
I'm not saying anything else
but yes, turtlespin explains it well
sketching - March 2, 2006 10:15 PM (GMT)
You build up pressure using the Thumb and the base knuckle of the Index finger. Squeeze the pen between the two and push with the tip of the Index finger.
Dark_Wolf - March 2, 2006 10:57 PM (GMT)
IMO.. this is a very easy trick, i learned it in less than a day... may be same as the fundementals level..

there shold be pressure from index unless you're doing it wrong, i get my pressure from the index but yes moving the hand would make it go far too
and also the trick is easy to learn

thanks everybody, especially flashy. all this really helps.
TnTran06 - April 21, 2006 08:40 PM (GMT)
I need help on the leigun. I've tried to find tutorials, but couldn't. Does anyone have one or tell me how its done.
lunasol - April 21, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
the closest thing i could find for a tutorial is this post on the UPSB forums
http://www.pentrix.com/upsb2/viewtopic.php...ighlight=leigunand watch the video on pentrix.com
http://www.pentrix.com/videos/video.php?v=leigunforward.swfthat's about it
slickhare - April 21, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
why's everyone so secretive about it? it can't possibly kill anyone? if you could i'd be more worried about impaling my hand while learning.
lunasol - April 21, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
it's not that hard of a trick to learn...it's completely retarded. the only use for it would be a toss to your opposite hand to keep a spin going...i don't think you would normally use it to hit someone in the eye with it...it just needs timing

doing the leigun is banned because lots of ppl use it as harm. but today i was leiguninng my comp screen like crazy and at lunch i was playing "catch" with my freind instead it was leigun catch lol.. fun trick.
darkinertia - April 22, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
lol banned. when someone gives me a rule, ill break it. you shouldnt of said that :D
look for and upcoming vid by me ;)

I have a better substitute for the leigun. No pictures needed.
NOTE, Trick can ONLY be done with a single capped bic round stic!
step 1. hold pen squeezed between your thumb and pinky to build pressure. (stretched across your palm, almost)
step 2. build up pressure by squeezing with pinky, and keeping thumb still.
step 3. straighten thumb (move up) and the pen can "fly" distances up to 30/40 feet, depending on how strong you are. (high, not straight ahead)
My friends and I stand really far away from eachother and try to catch them, its pretty fun for about five minutes. Aiming for things is easy too, because your thumb is basically an aimer. Try it.
Mods: if this goes against that Leigun rule, then delete please. I don't want anyone getting hurt either, this one is hard to shoot straight ahead anyway, but still. I don't want to break the unwritten rule either. Thanks.
sketching - April 22, 2006 05:04 AM (GMT)
Kam doesn't like it being taught, so it was publicly kept quiet in UPSB.
There was already a thread on Leigun here, so I'll just merge the two threads together. We were okay with the old thread, so I see no reason to close it now.

Can you post a vid of that trick, I still don't understand the starting position.

No, as I do not have a video camera right now. But what I can do is post a picture of the starting position when I get a chance.
killsburydohboy - April 22, 2006 04:10 PM (GMT)
Alright thanks, a starting position pic would be nice.
Joshua - April 30, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
Heres a picture of the starting position, with the only capped marker/pen I could find near the computer. I finally found my camera, haha.

Just apply pressure with your pinky and straighten your thumb to "fire".
I personally think this is alot safer than the leigun for the sole reason that it shoots up and not to the side: its awkward shooting it staight ahead, and it wont go as far as it will just straight up.
Also, if you have big hands (like me) try applying pressure with your ring or even middle finger. It will shoot higher, further, and your aim actually improves the further you move up your hand. (for me at least)
Try it out. But don't mark up your ceilings. Your mom will be pissed.
xz64 - April 30, 2006 06:51 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah some kid in class taught me that trick except with thumb and middle finger. I still think leigun is better ;)
RippDrive - April 30, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
Wow Joshua I really like that one. Odd that I never thought to do that with a pen before <_<
I can launch a bic round stic at high speeds stright ahead with fairly good accuracy. Just put your hand down at your side like you normally would while walking, kinda stealthy.

I wasn't going to mention that in hopes that people wont use their powers for evil.. but yeah. Its fun to do when walking behind friends-- they have no idea what they just got hit by. haha
And yeah, the pic and small tut was for killsburydohboy, he asked. so... yeah.
killsburydohboy - April 30, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the pic, the trick is pretty easy to learn, the only problem is when I do it with a mx I get a round mark on my finger because of the tip, but it goes away after a while. I guess the trick would be hard to use in a combo though.
chanman123 - April 30, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
Lol I can't even stretch my hands that big for a MX.
Nor a HGG
Nice Trick Joshua
I get more power from a Leigun though
Not that I would need it
xz64 - April 30, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
That trick is possible after inverse isonic (from an infinity)

haha he TRIED to....me/firebird/kel made that hard for him tho ;)
but seriously, its not THAT dangerous, i mean i could just get arubber band and paper and i could seirously hurt someone with that
but, the trick isnt that helpful, in fact, ive never seen it used in a combo
EXfever - May 1, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
rofl at leigun being banned..
i mean if someone seriously wants to hurt someone with a pen
wouldnt throwing the whole pen at the person be a lot better?
and if that person is really so furious as to hurt someone with a pen using such a technique why not just walk up to the person and punch him lol
not insulting anything but i find it funny
killsburydohboy - May 1, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
If I remember correctly, the leigun was banned not because it was extremely dangerous, but because it would give pen spinning a bad name. As people have said, you could just through a pen at a person and cause more damage, but if you were pen spinning and then shot the pen out at somebody they would link pen spining with violence. Also, if a tutorial was made for the spinners who don't want to harm people with the trick, it would also be open to everybody else, including people who may want to shoot the pen at people.
If somebody really wanted to learn this trick they could read the description on turtlespin and watch the vid.

i never thought of it that way... but then again how could they link it directly to pen spin? i mean accidents happen...
Le0n - May 14, 2006 02:57 PM (GMT)
well back to how to do a Leigun:
i noticed that alot of persons do a leigun wrong when they learn it, mostly you could say there are 2 Types of leigun: the Flying and the direct
Beginners often use flying because they dont know how to do the direct, so i would say the direct is the right one
to do the flying the index finger tip must be near to the COP and the finger tip must slip under the pen after the start
to do the direct one the index finger tip must be at the end of the Pen and the tip mustn't slip under the pen after the start.

So many years have passed...and people are still talking about the Leigun
It's funny how things can be taken out of context, so let me clarify things...
I do not like that people teach the Leigun for two reasons:
1. Too many pen spinners started saying "Just use the Leigun on the people making fun of PS". Even though I don't believe people have actually tried to use it against other people, I do not want to be credit for creating a move that is used to hurt people.
You may say...can you really hurt people with the Leigun? Sure...if done right, the Leigun can have a good impact. I've broken RSVPs while shooting the Leigun against a wall. Imagine if real people were used as target instead.
Tue...a simple punch or kick is probably more devastating than a powerful Leigun, but just the fact that you're using a PS move to attack someone is already deeply disturbing to me.
2. The Leigun was meant to inspire, not be copied by thousands. There are lots of ways to propel your pen from your hand, so why not be original? Joshua seems to be one of the few who got that message.
Finally, I don't believe we ever banned the Leigun from being used or anything. I just stopped providing instructions once I decided that the Leigun should be used to inspire. Anyone can learn the Leigun by watching videos if they took the time. It's not that difficult of a trick. But wouldn't you rather create your own "flying pen" trick? ;) *shows a 20 dollar bill*
Le0n, I believe you forgot a third variation of the Leigun...shooting backwards. I think I mentioned in UPSB that you can do the Leigun 3 ways: shooting forward, shooting in place or upwards (what you call "Flying"), and shooting backwards.
The last one is basically shooting yourself, or something behind you (if you can aim that well). It's done just like the other two Leiguns, but I'll let you figure out how to do that.
Anyways, thanks to killsburydohboy (for remembering my words) and Joshua (for coming up with a simple, yet interesting, way of shooting the pen that's no the Leigun).
Kam
PS: no time to shorten the post...sry :P
Le0n - May 15, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
yeah actually when i made the video there were a few times (when i made the "flying" one) where the pen got in backwards direction but i didn't knew that this was a variation of leigun too ^^ also i didn't read any post in upsb yet :/ so i didn't know it was already mentioned...
well.. great to see you having some time to talk to us here :) very happy bout that
kam - May 15, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
hehe...I don't really have time...
I am supposed to be working, but as long as nobody is here to watch me <_< I might as well check the boards.
