Title: Infinity

Rennac - March 9, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
Can anyone point me out to some textual instructions on the Infinity. I tried watching a vid and understanding it but it was beyond me.

If you know what a wiper is, it goes wiper pass wiper. If you don't know what a wiper is, you hold the pen in between your two fingers and just let it swing down. So you hold it in between T1, then swing the pen down and pass T1-12, then wiper 12, then pass to T1, and then just repeat. So, its:

Wiper T1 -> Pass T1-12 -> Wiper 12 -> Rev Pass 12-T1

I'd give you some links on UPSB V2, but I can't log in for some reason. But here's a link to the vid and more instructions on turtle spin if mine aren't clear.

Do some research... http://s15.invisionfree.com/UCPSB/index.php?showtopic=37
I learned infinity just by watching the pentrix video... its not too hard

oh yeah i posted a tutorial in some post your tutorials thread

QUOTE (xz64)

Here is another for Infinity T1

Tutorial: Infinity Normal

1) Hold the pen near the tip with your thumb and index finger.

2) Swing the pen down diagonally by bending in your index finger and rolling your thumb.

3) When the tip is pointing to the ceiling, put your middle finger behind the pen and take your thumb off the pen.

4) Without using your thumb, swing the pen up diagonally by:
a. Positioning your index finger in front of your middle finger. (Don't use too much force)
b. Bending your middle and index fingers inward and tilt your hand away from your other hand.
NOTE: During this step, the pen should not come on top of the index finger.

5) Put your thumb under the pen and release your middle finger about 80% through step 4.

6) Position your index finger behind your thumb.

You don't need to learn how to do wipers before hand to do this trick but it kinda helps. You also need to know how to do a pass but they are pretty easy. Also if you can get a pen with a grip thicker than the barrel that helps.

Watch this video. Note that the infinity is preformed with your palm down, not sideways as it appears is some videos.
http://www.pentrix.com/pentix/videos/trick...ormal_front.avi

-Start in writing position. Use your second finger to pull the tip of the pen down so that the cap swings diagonally over.(Wiper T1 Reverse)

-Once the swing is complete use your second finger to carefully grab the bottom of the grip and push the pen straight up( let go with thumb). The cap end should swing up. (pass T1-12)

-Now let the pen swing down diagonally left/down the same way you did with T1. (Wiper 12 Reverse)

-After that swing use your thumb to replace your second finger and push the pen so it swings straight up again. (Pass 12-T1)

Your back in starting position. Now practice that for the next two weeks to get it smooth.

infnity tut.

as far as fingerpass goes its all about practice. it takes 1 min to learn fingerpass but a lifetime to master it.

and infnity with grip.

Normal infinity: wiper rev T1 > pass T1-12 > wiper rev 12 > pass rev 12-T1 (repeat)

Infinity is a combo made of wipers. You can find a tutorial at pentix/trix in the video section(I prefere pentrix because it uses tricksplayer).Infinity isn't that hard (I learned it in a day), but its variations are hard(i.e. triple infinity and inverse infinity).

Infinity Thread here at UCPSB, continue any more discussion there.

Edit: the video from old Pentix that finally made me understand what the trick is.

i have alot of trouble with my infinity.

like i can do it and all, but im having troulble making it up to ante in the speed department. i know how; use your thmb to guide, but i dont know how to use the thummb. like after teh pen drops down to 12, i dont know how to use my thumb. i usually end up using the back of my thumb instead of the front, which is how it is done in kams vid on pentrix.

help me plox plox

I think the problem with the videos that we have now is that its just a normal speed version of the trick but slowed, i did a vid that is acctually in SLOW motion (not done by computer) this speed is like 1/3 of normal speed.. i just did it really slow to show people.. i think that will really help people who are just starting... it looks kinda weird but its ok.. lol... its just really slow.. once you can do that.. you should be able to do the infinity.

What's the difference between Figure 8 and Infinity? They seem like the same trick to me..

V.L.T - August 29, 2006 10:24 AM (GMT)

TayYH89 - August 29, 2006 10:36 AM (GMT)
Figure 8 is done with hand movements only while the pen is held at the tip by the index and thumb (the basic trick).

As for Infinity, it is done with hand movments and finger movements.

RippDrive - August 29, 2006 03:11 PM (GMT)
Well a proper infinity shouldn't have hand movements :P

What RippDrive said.
Same goes to Figure 8.
A proper Infinity and Figure 8 does not require hand movement (wrist motion).
Infinity requires one to pass the pen from T1 to 12. As for Figure 8, you will need to hold the pen using T1, then creates the pattern eight with the help of middle finger.

sketching - August 30, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
Just to clarify, you can also do Figure 8 in-between any other two finger/thumb combination, just like Infinity can be done with any 3 digit combination. T1 is not the only slot that can do Figure 8s, but it is easiest to accomplish in this slot.

chaoticlancer - October 11, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)
My infinity turns really HUGE rounds.......is this correct?

sketching - October 11, 2006 05:59 PM (GMT)
 What do you mean by huge rounds? You're holding onto the end of the pen, so of course there will be alot of motion.

Look at the Infinity videos here and compare them to yours. If they look similar, you're okay. If not, figure out what you nedd to do to change it.

Edit: moved out of Fundamentals...

Ratboy - October 11, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
If you don't move your hand very much, the Infinity can only make circles as long as the pen!

Without having seen a video, I'd say don't worry too much - the beauty of the trick is making maximum movement with minimum effort.
