Title: RIP Peter Zezel

Gian-Luca - May 26, 2009 11:41 PM (GMT)
Shocking news - former NHL and CSL player (about the only person you could say that about, I'm pretty sure) has passed away from a rare blood disorder at 44:

Sat right behind him (he had first row seats over the players tunnel) at the Canada Jamaica match back at Varsity when Brennan was a young winger and scored a beauty of a goal.

Back in the day Zezel used his soccer skills and skates well as a faceoff man and actually brought alot of skill to a checking line for that Leaf team that broke many of our hearts.

44 is too young for anyone to go and I will definitely have a thought or two for his family.

Wow that is sad news. I loved Zezel because I had his AAA hockey jersey from when he played with the Markham Thunder way back int he day. I was pretty sure he played indoor as well in his 30's whent he Leafs were done. Anyone got photos?

I remember when he played for the leafs and was the period break interview. The announcer asked him about his football affiliation and love of the sport and he responded by saying that if soccer paid his bill better he would have serious contemplated it as a career choice instead of hockey. Put a smile on my face. RIP.
