Title: 2009 Gold Cup on TV
morrison - July 3, 2009 01:03 AM (GMT)
So far, all I've found is
Friday July 3rd
8pm - Canada vs. Jamaica (Sportsnet)
10pm - Costa Rica vs. El Salvador (Gol TV)
goltv's website still lists saturday as June 27th, so no luck in seeing if any of the other groups' first matches are going to be on TV here.

Sportsnet is showing all of the Canada games live, but you will most likely need to have all 4 regional channels.
Gol TV is showing all the non-Canada games live.
They will also have repeats of all matches, including Canada's.

nice.
Wasn't sure as the only Gold Cup related thing I could find on GolTV's website last I checked was the lone 10pm match on friday night.

Ya, I know what you mean.
But I was checking an online TV guide and it lists Gol TV showing all of the first set of group stage games live.

alright, weekend schedule is up on Gol TV
and as you said, TONS of replays (even of the Canada matches that are live on various sportsnet channels)
ColinTFC - July 4, 2009 02:44 AM (GMT)
El Salvador should be up 2-nil, but will take the 1-nil lead into the final two-thirds of the match... (after 30 minutes)

Costa Rica 1 - 2 El Salvador
at the death

Right about now I'm really missing the old version of Extra Time on Gol that would have covered Canada in depth. With the TFC switchover they no longer seem to bother with the national teams.

El Salvador wins 2-1 over Costa Rica last night. A Canada win on Tuesday would basically put them through no matter what.
Right now Haiti takes on Honduras in Seattle.
SweetOwnGoal - July 5, 2009 12:35 AM (GMT)
Haiti and the Honduras D team are in a dreadful 0-0 draw 60 min in ...
Canada really could win this tournament with the call-ups the other top countries have made (and it won’t mean much...other than it could take the edge off the bitterness over at the Vs...)

If anyone can find a TV link for the games in Philly and Phoenix please let me know

USA B gave Grenada a 4 nil licking. No surprise there I guess.

Robbie Rogers was a beast, setting up two and scoring one.
Even though it was Grenada thats a pretty good haul.

I hope this guy on Gol Tv stops referring to everything that is poor to Sunday League...it is getting old.
Johnny - July 7, 2009 11:12 PM (GMT)
Best line from the commentators
"You just heard the Jamaican National Anthem, but this one didn't have all the booms in it"

More like a 'C' team.

Haha, dont know if anyone is watching GOLTv with USA vs Panama, but the commentators obviously dont know they can be heard. The one guy said he is pulling for Haiti, and he went on to say how Sharlie Joseph got screwed out of playing for the USA by listening to the wrong people.
Sam Cronin is starting today.

Ha! I tuned in too late and missed that. Earlier today during the rugby webcast they left the mic of the sideline reporter on all the time so through the game you could hear her chatting, yelling to friends in the crowd, swearing, negotiating post-game interviews, etc.

That was one disaster of television broadcast.
You have to blame GOL in part as they obviously are just doing a direct switch to the feed so don't have the capacity to deal with things that go wrong.
That said, the feed audio (lack of stadium ambient sound) was probably not their fault.
That said, do they really have to play the same "Canada wins the Gold Cup" half-time feature for every single match?

Agreed.
Plus is it really necessary to miss the start of the 2nd half so that I can be told for the umpteenth time not to miss the 'big match' against Real Madrid? Or have another ShamWow or weed wacker commercial?
I don't think you can blame Gol TV for the poor commentators. I believe they are picking up the Concacaf feed.

Mexico routs U.S. to win Gold Cup
Vindication. Satisfaction. Domination.
After finally earning a win against the Americans on U.S. soil, Mexico’s players used all of those words Sunday to describe the 5-0 romp that gave them their fifth Gold Cup championship. Oh, and one other noun: pride. “I believe this is a great win for Mexico because we showed the pride we have in our hearts today,” Giovani Dos Santos said. “This is a huge step for us in the process.” That process had included no progress this decade when the United States hosted its southern rival. The Mexicans were 0-9-2 since a March 1999 victory at San Diego. They snapped that victory drought before an overwhelmingly pro-Mexico crowd of 79,156 at Giants Stadium with an offensive onslaught in the second half. Captain Gerardo Torrado scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute, then the inexperienced U.S. squad came unglued.
