Any web-feeds? This match is taking place two hours before an exam, and I will have to watch it online.

We get fucked again by the refs.
Can we join the Asian Confederation already?
GoochMcDoober - July 18, 2009 09:49 PM (GMT)
Fuck I hate CONCACAF. That ref can suck my fucking cock. Fucking dick.

ag futbol - July 18, 2009 09:51 PM (GMT)
Ok ... who's this year's douche bag trying to steal games from us?
GoochMcDoober - July 18, 2009 09:58 PM (GMT)
Some cock sucking fucker from El Salvador. God I'll fucking kick his fucking nuts up his goddamn throat. Cock sucker.
hazman - July 18, 2009 10:44 PM (GMT)
The ref is taking away more passing lanes than the Honduras team!
His positioning is horrible!
ag futbol - July 18, 2009 11:04 PM (GMT)
Well cunt face stole the game, but everything heart did was right and by the book. Even taking off Josh Simpson (which at face looked crazy) ended up working out as it allowed us to push Kevin Mckena forward.
I'll be looking forward to watching them lose by 3 goals to the US and subsequently cry.

Why do we even try?? Its just never going to happen for us.. we can field a team of 10 messi's and 1 zombie peter schmiechel and we would still get screwed over
GoochMcDoober - July 18, 2009 11:08 PM (GMT)
After this, I can't be that mad at JDGII anymore. Who the fuck would want to deal with CONCACAF officials? It gets so depressing knowing how our region plays.
TFCAlberta - July 18, 2009 11:12 PM (GMT)
fuck this shit.
Positive result: JDG is probably going to sign for us as he had a pretty scrappy game with few of his trademark passes and was thwarted again and again. It was firmly average from him with some decent bits, surely not going to attract any offers that aren't already there.
And Gerba will play against the KKKrew.
GoochMcDoober - July 18, 2009 11:13 PM (GMT)
Though I will say our players did very well. Klukowski's deliveries were madness and I thought Tibs had a very strong game. IMO, he was the better out of him and JDG.
Breakwood - July 18, 2009 11:20 PM (GMT)
Look at the positive. We have a government, Honduras.....not so much :D
neil_z_ - July 19, 2009 12:04 AM (GMT)
This is too much to deal with, every single match of significance, we are royally fucked.

I found myself thinking the exact same thing.

Guys, that call was shit but...
1) It was only as bad as the NON-call on Stalteri at the start of the game. Honduras should have had a penalty on that one.
2) We didn't score.
I'm disappointed but just regular, "Oh to be Canadian" disappointed, not "We always get fucked why do we even try" disappointed. Compared to World Cup qualifying (the last three times) this was still a successful tournament.

Gotta say I agree with you. A bitter pill to swallow, but nothing a goal from our side wouldn't have cured.
ColinTFC - July 19, 2009 02:16 AM (GMT)
Cooper just took one for the team
(and then delivers on the PK in extra-time)
Breakwood - July 19, 2009 02:23 AM (GMT)
I just love how the Honduran player even admitted he didn't think it was a penalty <_<

Agreed with you on #2, but not 1. Yeah it was closer to a PK than the one that was actually given and I've seen them given but the guy fell down like a ton a bricks but not from being grabbed by Stalteri. And if the Ref calls that a PK then he'd have to call to a lot of PK's against Honduras for grabbing and tackling Canadians on just about every corner kick. Gerba got tackled to the ground in the pk box and he fucking calls the foul in favour of honduras.
In the end we had enough chances to tie the game and have to blame ourselves for that side of it, but losing on another shit call just stinks. Especially as that was pretty well the only way we were going to lose this f'ing game.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/2009/07/18/canada_honduras/Quote of the year:
"I was really disappointed with the officiating, with this particular game. If I had a chance to make a tackle on this ref, I wouldn't even think twice," said a disgusted midfielder Julian de Guzman.
"It's pretty obvious that would be bad business for CONCACAF if Canada was to make it to the finals or semifinals. I mean we don't bring in the crowds that CONCACAF would like," he added.

Haha, oh JDG. Glad to hear it.
Will the CSA say anything about this?
Nah.

Some updated quotes from that article:
"I think a lot of them feel a little bit hard done (by)," Hart said of his players. "To lose a game really on something that is not in your control is always heart-breaking.
"We lost our concentration because of that call in the first half. But they can keep their heads high because the way they played in the second half, on another day they could have easily got the result."
But the pill was harder to swallow in the wake of the 2007 tournament exit.
"The same thing happens over and over," said Hutchinson. "I thought it was a horrible call from the ref. I think if he looks it himself, he should be ashamed. That's all I can say."
"It seems to be one-sided when it comes to the calls that we're not getting and the calls that they've been getting," said goalie Greg Sutton. "It's frustrating because you work hard and then it's something that's basically out of your hands that costs you the game. That's not the way these games should finish."
Said Hart: "That's the general feeling in the dressing room but I'm not going to use the referees as an excuse. We didn't score and we had the opportunities to do that."

Don't know how long this video will be available so here's a transcript of Rob Faulds commentary on that Sportsnet highlight clip on that link:
"Now 35th minute, this is where the game turns. Paul Stalteri called for - you make the call - a rather suspect foul in the box giving Honduras a penalty kick. You've got to be kidding, that call is a joke!!! Walter Martinez from the spot buries it, Honduras up 1-nil.
(he then discusses McKenna header off the post before finishing by practically shouting in anger with the following line:)
Honduras, thanks to the Ref, advances to the semis 1-nil!!!!!!

Said before. Thought by all.
Bullshit.
Should have been nil-nil @ 90. I'd have been fine with that and whatever may have come after. Sure Canada didn't score... but neither did Honduras (really). I thought FOR SURE Sutts was going to head in that corner kick... that would have been sweet. In my fantasy world that's how it went...followed by an Ali G strike from 60 yards out for the win.
But reality sucks. Push the button.

This just shows that even if we get ahead Concacaf will take evey and any oppurtunity possible to fuck us. If this was a one off thing, then ok. But this has literly been happening for years. CSA needs to do some diplomatic leg work to prevent situations like this.
Otherwise, we might as well just pull out of the federation or not show up. CONCACAF will find any means necessary to make sure we don't win, that's pretty clear.
