Title: Thread to complain about TV shows being cancelled

Dajhail - February 11, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
I saw a bit of the TV series 'Drive' today, about different pairs of characters getting caught up in a secret illegal street race run by a mysterious conspiracy for reasons to be disclosed later. It was actually pretty good, even though they had to spend a lot of the time introducing the characters, setting up the story, building up the mystery and generally giving lots of questions to be answered later.

But the studio cancelled the series before they could even show the first four episodes, so there's never going to be an ending, the questions will never be answered, there will never be any closure. The series just ends on a fucking cliffhanger that will never be resolved. On episode fucking four.

OF COURSE THERE'S GOING TO BE NO ONE WATCHING YOUR SHOW IF YOU CANCEL IT BEFORE ANYONE'S EVEN HEARD OF IT. STUPID BASTARD STUDIO.

it didn't get lost-level viewers so it's a failure

Lost is gay.

It's just occurred to me that if Firefly hadn't been cancelled we'd be up to season six by now :(

man, i loved that show. i think it didn't do so well cause it was too smart for the majority of the viewers.

I miss Brimstone. Almost nobody knew it, it came on at late night. instead of porn. but it was amusing.

A police officer detective fellow dying and gone to hell for his sins, yet doing the devil a favor by tracking down 113 escaped souls and bringing them back to him. superpowered evil demonic souls of course.

MrFrost - February 18, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
speaking of cancelled shows, does anyone remember G vs. E ?

Dajhail - February 18, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
Everyone who knew about it seemed to love Brimstone when it was on. I didn't catch much of it, but it had John Glover in it so it couldn't be that bad.

G vs. E got a lot of critical acclaim too if I remember right, but I never had the chance to watch an episode.

Scooby Doo only had 13 ghosts and involved Scooby & Gang trapping (omgwtfrealghosts!) them in some chest thing..? ...I don't think they defeated the ghosts by shooting their eyes ("windows to the soul") out though =3

I think Justice League actually ran a year longer than expected. The series has two endings.

But yeah it's definitely over. The team that made it moved on to making the direct to video movies like New Frontier and Superman Doomsday.

I cried when The O.C got cancelled :(

X-Men: Evolution? Was that the one with the real peeps? not a animation? Cause I seem to remember a show that as X-men based.

I still miss Enterprise and Firefly :(

Dajhail - February 24, 2008 09:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah I miss Enterprise too. It was killed off just when it was finally getting good too, you could finally see the potential there... then it was killed off, and buried with that retarded last episode.

I don't miss the music though.

They still show it, but they don't make it. There hasn't been a new episode in three years.

thats funny, an i thought that was a show or atleast a series that would just keep trucking on.

Dajhail - February 26, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Well the last batch of Star Trek series lasted 18 years straight, so it didn't do that badly. I'm sure if the new movie does well then it'll lead to a new series eventually. If it doesn't do well though, I think Star Trek is going to be taking a long break.

it seems so... shame though i always enjoyed the series for the most part.

mooty - February 26, 2008 08:35 PM (GMT)
They need to put a stop to 24. It's been going on for far too long.

Waaahies that is so depressing ;'(

I can't think of too many tv shows that were cancelled that I really enjoyed but I have a big pet peev about shows having very few episodes and then just replying them over and over and over again. Undergrads for example.

Oh I was sad when Clone High stopped having new episodes ;(

nano - March 9, 2008 05:31 PM (GMT)
Firefly was too original and well written. The network needed that slot
for another CSI spinoff.

The Tick with Patrick Warburton never got to see its full potential. That
man is hilarious :D

The Morphine Child - March 11, 2008 05:07 AM (GMT)
I'm still upset about M*A*S*H :P

But seriously, Fox should just stop making new shows. They make an awesome show, then cancel it. No real reason, just cancel it. They need more room for idol.

Well he's still funny in Family Guy and Venture Bros, at least they haven't been cancelled yet. Not permanently anyway.

the nanny was on the air 93 more episodes than arrested development

Deckard - April 12, 2008 08:42 PM (GMT)
Oblongs and Mission Hill. Mission hill in particular was a really funny show, and the animatics I watched for two unaired episodes on youtube seemed even better than the episodes that were actually produced.
