Title: Questions (amadeus, omg?!)

So I really, really miss spending all of my free time making a game, especially since i seriously filled up 4 notebooks with a storyline, map designs, character profiling, etc. etc. and spent over a 7 year period of my life devoting myself to the rpg making world.

Trouble is, I own a mac these days and I can't seem to find any good programs on it for making a little old school rpg. Does any one know of one? Or should I bite my lip and jump head first into plain programming? I want to make Amadeus a reality. Though I think a name change is due.

Windows.

Seriously, though, I don't think there are any RPG making programs for Macintosh, I think plain programming is the best you can do. Sure, it's a lot of work, but the potential is limitless.

I'd suggest buying a crappy PC for a couple hundred dollars that will run an old school game maker and just use that. Programming is a bit of a bore if you're a designer. Just a thought.

hmm, buying a cheap pc doesn't sound like a bad idea... I think I might actually do that... But the idea that I could make something that has limitless possibilities is enticing as well.. this whole thing is frustrating.

AGS (Adventure Game Studio) is busy making a mac version. could wait for that. Or you could just dual boot windows? :3

Well the 'limit' is based around how much time and effort you want to put into it and how much natural programming logic you have. If you just want to design a game and get into it to express yourself creatively... use an existing system and mod it.

IMHO.

Booting Windows on the Mac is a good idea too. I have no idea how to do it, but the interweb does!

Yeah I used to dual boot but windows just fucking pissed me off way too much so I got rid of my partition.

AGS sounds interesting, how good of a system is it though?

Supposedly pretty good. People have made RPGs with it. I'm sure it's at least at par with RPG Maker.

Although I think your best bet would be dual booting windows...
