Title: Batman + Anime =
Dajhail - February 17, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
The Batmanimatrix?
http://io9.com/356964/a-video-peek-into-batman-gone-animeThis looks like it could be cool. Similar to the Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight is an animated DVD featuring 6 short films, each by a different anime director with a different visual style and a different take on the Dark Knight.
There's apparently also going to be a Terminator one coming too.

And more Batman.

Those guys are reading into Batman far too much. I don't think that it is healthy.
Dajhail - February 17, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
If there's any comic book character worthy of analysis, it's probably Batman. They've been writing stories about him since the thirties.
But yeah 'Batman is like a Samurai who lost his master, and is trying to find a new master, but he discovers that the only person that can be his master... is himself!' Uh, the fuck?

nice, I am a big fan of the Batman !
belsammael - February 18, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
eh, Batman Beyond was made by some japanese studio thing also, might just as well go all the way now.
Now, to pay for my sin I'm going to watch Superman:Doomsday again.

I think that Batman Beyond was produced in the US and animated in Korea, same as the other DCAU series, Superman: Doomsday, and pretty much every other US cartoon save South Park.

Superman: Doomsday wasn't bad, though not exactly great either. They changed the story a little from the comic but it works, the acting was good, plus it had a couple of nice action scenes.
MrFrost - February 18, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
I dont think anything beats the original batman series where they all had huge jaw lines.
Dajhail - February 18, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
Personally I thought Justice League/Unlimited actually managed to surpass it on occasion. But Bruce Timm, the guy who made Batman the Animated Series and Justice League, is working on this new DVD too so I think it's got a fair chance of being good.

It was okay. Luthor was voiced by James Marsters, which is usually a good thing, also in this occassion.
Superman looked a bit odd, story was changed a bit from the comics indeed, but it was good. Lex is a meanie. :(

well you have to expect that, comics and books dont fit tto well into movies with out some alterations.

I'll watch this. Looks quite funky. Not that I'm a big Batman fan. I don't much like American super hero blokes.
MrFrost - February 19, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
how can you not like batman? He is stight badass! where you from anyhow?
mooty - February 20, 2008 07:26 AM (GMT)
I'm from Cape Town, South Africa.
And I just don't much like any of the Batman films / series I've seen. Americans tend to make media intended for their children outrageously .. childish.
But this looks adult oriented so I'll watch it :)

What are you talking about? Cape Town is a fine city. American cities are no less full of violent crimes.

Dajhail - February 22, 2008 02:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah but Cape Town doesn't have Batman to protect it.
MrFrost - February 25, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
haha thats true... then again neither do we.
Linzi - March 9, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
I'm a huge anime and Batman fan so this is pretty exciting. I totally agree with what they are saying about Batman being easily transferred over to a serious anime. The atmosphere that some of the modern adult animes out there would be the perfect vibe for a batman short story thingie.

Also, it wasn't bad. Would recommend.
Except for maybe the one where the two cops drive around in a car talking for half of it and then accidentally park at a gang meeting. No amount of Batman walking through flames could make that one interesting. Pretty though.
delita - July 18, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
i thought this thing was gay as hell and bad
