Title: The games that would not die
Description: Old school games that still get played

Dajhail - February 22, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
What old school games are you still playing, months/years/decades after you first played them?

Oldest ones I can think of for me are Manic Miner and Super Mario Bros 3. Though to be honest I don't really play Manic Miner, I just occasionally load it up in an online Spectrum emulator and remind myself why I never won it.

Deja Vu/Shadow Gate/Uninvited

I've recently run through all the Dragon Warrior/ Dragon Quest games. :D

But I always play Fallout (1&2). Went so far as to buy them for Mac on ebay lol...

Sonic 3/Knuckles still gets a playthrough every now and then

Starcraft, of course, gets dusted off every few months or so.

Well I would have mentioned Earthbound... except I didn't play it then, and I don't play it now.

Also I don't like the game.

Whenever I have nothing to play, I always find myself considering Wizardry 8 again... Often times I go ahead and play it. That or Final Fantasy Tactics/Vagrant Story (whichever I haven't played most recently).

Dungeon Keeper, the Sonic games on megadrive, and Cannon Fodder. I've never had my megadrive unplugged from a TV unless it was to move it to another TV, and I somehow doubt I ever will until it breaks, in which case it will also be unplugged to be repaired.

The Legend of Zelda is a great game. Shame they never remade it.

Wizardry 8 was such a great game! I keep returning to it too. I keep hoping that one day a Wizardry 9 will be made. :(

I always seem to go back to Final Fantasy Legends I and II. Did anyone else love them like I did? Of all the games that Square-Enix keep remaking, I wish they'd remake them!

I thought they were very good games for the GBA, though I dont think they would hold up very well these days.

Another game I like to play now and then is North & South for the NES.

;( I sadly don't get a chance to play many video games these days. Without using an emulator, the only oldschool system I have is SNES so I bust out the super Mario collection game...and sometimes Ecco2 for the Genesis....

I just remembered, I play Rogue more than I should.

Actually, The original legend of Zelda was rereleased for GBA and is available for purchase online for the Wii for 500 points if I recall correctly. Also, FF6 will never die!
