Battlestar Prequel Gets the Go-Ahead"SCI FI Channel has given the go-ahead to "Caprica," a prequel of "Battlestar Galactica" in the form of a two-hour backdoor pilot"
"Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, the executive producers of "Galactica," will join with Universal Media Studios to work on "Caprica." Rene Aubuchon will co-write the "Caprica" pilot with Moore, and Jeff Reiner will direct it."
It's going to be set 50 years before BSG, before the start of the first Cylon War, as the Colonials make a breakthrough in robotics that allows them to make shiny living machines called 'Cylons'. It'll apparently 'weave together corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television’s first science fiction family saga', following the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas.
Might be good news, but I'm not sure how interesting the Battlestar Galactica world is going to be without Battlestars or Cylons. Also it's probably not a good idea to get too attached to the characters as almost all of them are going to be nuked by evil robots a few years after the series ends.
