Renoise is a music program that I found out aboot from an interview with Knytt creator Nifflas.
The latest version is 1.9.0.
QUOTE
Renoise is a contemporary digital audio workstation (DAW) based upon the heritage and development of tracker software. Its primary use is the composition of music using samples (in WAV, AIFF, FLAC, OGG, MP3 format), MIDI sequencing of VSTi soft synths. The main differentiation of Renoise from other music software is the characteristic vertical timeline sequencer used by tracking software, as opposed to the more popular horizontal timeline sequencers.

The website is http://www.renoise.com/ where you can download a free trial.
You can't export with the trial, but if you feel like being tricky, you can record your songs with GoldWave, another good audio editing program.

I've been making the music for Robutt(My platformer project) in it with some success.
I recommended it to the IRC gang a couple months ago. Notable Renoise superstars include:
Myself
Rofljohn
solar

http://www.goldwave.com/ - Download GoldWave for your other audio editing needs.
http://www.kvraudio.com/ - Good source of VST instruments for use with Renoise

I use it... :D

I'm still learning how to use it and what not, but yeah... Found it about a week ago ironically. I use it mainly for simple drum beats so I can record over them for draft versions and something for a session drummer to elaborate on in the studio.

Just wish I had a midi device... That would make life awesome.

What's funny is that most of these people who claim to "re-invent" the way you compose music don't even know what the circle of fifths is.
