Title: Graphical Style
Description: Visualize

Let's start the brainstorm on the actual 'look' of the game. I'm sure once we nail a concept down it will be a lot easier to decide, but let's go over some options.
Here are some to get the ball rolling:
Chiaroscuro. Hard shadows. Black and white.

'Classic.' As so much as the Final Fantasy series goes.

Cartoony. Eets is a great example of a cel-shaded cartoony look.

3-tone. Simple and sleek.

Lego. you can make anything out of it... Anything.

Aniimeeeeeeee.
[but not really]
(honestly, I hate the stuff)
(also, the image was the first non-anime-sex picture to come up on google images. don't judge me! )

Another idea for a look that might save a little work, at least for the characters :)

I love the classic look. Even the art of Super Nintendo games holds up to games today. We could just make it undetailed like NES stuff, but I know we have some amazing pixel artists here who could really show off their talent with that classic look.

My vote is for pixel/classic, OR cartoon/cel-shaded.
We can work in our own style of art once we figure out the basic building blocks of what we're making.
The graphical "building blocks" should determine the musical "blocks" as well. For example, if we end up doing pixel art, the music should probably be chiptune/midi to fit the more old-school style graphics. If we go with graphics that are more advanced, we should use wav/mp3s, whether it be synthesized or recorded instruments. Just my two cents.
I'm assuming that since everyone is leaning towards a platformer/rpg type deal, the graphics will be 2D?

Since there seems to be so many people in the team thread who want to do art I wonder if it might be a good idea to consider hand-drawing the backgrounds of the stages (if we do end up making a platform rpg) and then making the characters/enemies/actual platforms as sprites or whatnot.
