I'll post cool free games I find in this thread and you'll download and play them.
Game for Jan. 16 2008: Audiosurf
Basically the best music game conceived by man. Aptly described by meep as F-Zero meets Guitar Hero meets Tetris. While other music games have failed to provide deep gameplay to go along with tapping buttons to the beat of a song, Audiosurf gives the player actual choice. In Guitar Hero, the objective is to simply hit as many notes as possible, with no real strategy involved. The Audiosurf player must choose one of around 10 different ships, each with different abilities, to guide them through tracks unique to that ship. A track is a linear but often winding and sloping path populated with colored blocks that you must collect and stack up Tetris style at the bottom of the screen. Clusters of 3 or more of a color remove them from the screen and reward the player with points.
Audiosurf is also better than Gaytar Hero because you aren't limited to a soundtrack of mainstream rock and cliched classics. Any audio track on your computer (up to a certain length) can be used, and the algorithm used to generate the tracks is surprisingly well made. Different instrument lines, tempo, and dynamics are all taken into account when generating the "note chart", resulting in a unique experience for each track. For a totally procedurally generated game, Audiosurf is surprisingly cinematic. Buildups and climaxes are represented on screen by pulsating scenery, shifting color schemes, and pyrotechnics as you hit a big combo right at the high point of your favorite song.

It's like old rpg2knet classic "Soldat" only you play as Kirby and you have a rope like from Worms. Fun for the whole family.

If you get sick of it, download I WANNA BE THE GUY
this is the hardest game i've ever played.
not to mention it's hilarious. The deaths are completely cheap but that's part of the magic. If you love hard games (battletoads, mega man, contra, etc.) and want a good laugh this game is a must play.
At least download it, and try to get past the 2nd screen going upwards. If you laugh about halfway through it(you'll know what i'm talking about when you get to it), you'll absolutely LOVE this game. If it just pisses you off then you probably won't enjoy this at all, and it's not the game for you.

You have to clear each screen sized level enemies to progress, but every couple of seconds the game 'glitches' and the rules all change and you find you're playing a different game. It plays a little like Warioware, quickly switching between classic games and forcing you to adapt.
