what i mean is game style. Western games would be like mass effect or oblivion. Games that have a greater feel and reamblence to western culture. And eastern like they may have an anime feel to them or or its styled in something similar to Japanese or chinese culture, dealing with mysticism etc.

The way it appears to me is that western RPGs are a bit more grounded in reality. While an eastern RPG filled with a bit more, like I said, mysticism.

I tend to be drawn to western styled games more myself.

well ya, i'm no rpg expert but ive noticed large differences. eastern usually have more complex and in depth plot lines [for better or worse] while westerns tend to focus less on story and more on gameplay [havent played many turn-based westernrpgs now that i think of it]. of course, exceptions exist both ways

i guess the major difference is jrpgs have tons of pointless, bland dialogue while western rpgs have tons of pointless, bland terrain. or at least oblivion.

i love pointless bland dialogue. it's like, real life, but you can at least speed through/skip the conversation whenever you feel like it.

eastern RPGs are basically 40 hour machinima where you push x to proceed.
so western.

i love my eastern rpg's and a fan of the western type but as far as westren goes they are by far not as good story tellers.. (not counting fable cause nothing beats that) and western rpg's tend to have ALOT of filler in the middle of the game while eastern are jam packed with story telling.
