Kirk is pissed off. He's wants to know why this damn gnome they've just grabbed off the ground is frightened, and he sure as hell isn't going to turn his head to find out.
Other people could probably manage to ride a jet powered rocket bike through a wall barechested, while simultaneously firing off two pistols and smoking a cigar. But only Nick Fury can do it without being able to see what the hell he's doing because he's facing the enemy with his blind eye.
I guess his laser eyes stopped working in his old age or something.

Looks like he did a good job of it. I heard of a message parlor where this little asian chick would beat you off and you would see stars. I think it was called the "Happy Family Special."
