Title: Games you regret getting.

And..Go!

Icewind Dale.

Everything I hate about the Infinity Engine D&D games, without any of the good. I found Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights boring, but at least there was a spark of interest there, I got some entertainment out of them. I have never gotten anything but misery and frustration from Icewind. Even when I cheated and maxed out my stats and decided to go on a rampage, nothing... it was no joy at all.

MrFrost - October 6, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
aww man, have i got a big list.. i name just a few.

Halo 1,2 & 3, Civilization (XBox-360), Oblivion, Playstation 3, Black & White 2, The Movies, Final Fantasy X-2, The last two Castlevania games, Nintendo 64, Game Cube, Super Smash Bros. Wii

I am sure ill think of a few more later an ill post em when i do.

Dajhail - October 6, 2008 06:29 PM (GMT)
If you regretted Halo 1 and 2, why did you get 3?

I think The Movies is a mediocre studio sim attached to a cool short movie making program. I got a lot more out of it playing in sandbox mode making films with everything unlocked than I did trying to play it as a game.

The World Ends With You. It wasn't even a bad game, to be honest; it had its share of things that I liked about it, including even the soundtrack. The thing that really got me about it was that it would grade you after every battle. That would be fine if my scores were ever good, but they weren't. So, I couldn't take it anymore and just stopped playing the game because I couldn't stand being graded so harshly. Otherwise, I probably would have enjoyed it.

Gintech - October 8, 2008 04:20 PM (GMT)
Roller coaster tycoon 3. I thought it would be amazing but it took me like 10 minutes to actually LEARN how to navigate through the landscape let along BUILD one. gahhhh.. so sad. It appears they made a modeler instead of an actual game. sad day at the Gintech residence.

Archeia - October 10, 2008 09:27 AM (GMT)
Ragnarok Online.
Warcraft Series
Starcraft

Why?
Because they are damn addicting :<

Gears of War.

It was a gift actually, so I regret that someone else wasted their money getting it for me. Damn this game is lifeless, miserable and joyless. Every wall is grey, every enemy equally as grey, and most of them look a lot like my own troops from a distance so I have no idea who I'm supposed to be shooting half the time. The weapons are weak and unsatisfying, with enemies taking too damn long to put down, and even the super awesome space laser weapon is lame.

I've tried to play the game three times. The last time I ended up spending a minute just holding the analogue stick down, spinning around on the spot, trying to think up a reason to keep playing. And failed.

Looks pretty though. In a grey kind of way.

Sonic Heroes.

I can't believe I bought the game, but I haven't played Sonic adventures so I didn't know what to expect. Well, it was horrible. The bosses were a pain, the Power and Fly characters would slow you down, you could easily fall off when you think you'd make a jump, and things like that. Blah. I want my $20 back.

Final Fantasy XII.

Vahn is the single most annoying character I've ever heard, including Tidus and Rikku. The characters clothes are horrible, and it's pretty dull overall. My mandatory quests include killing a tomato, trying to find someone down in the lower levels of the city (until I figured out about the map, this was a pain to do), and recharging a sun stone by going to dark crystals all over the desert map because the dumbass kids wouldn't just sell me one. I feel bad because it was a gift. I enjoyed FFX-2 more than this.

Dragon Quest VIII.

No save points. This one was also a gift.

Morrowind.

I thought it'd be awesome, as a lot of people seem to like it and miss some aspects of it when they played Oblivion. Well, I played Oblivion first, so I missed things like fast travel and compass that were in Oblivion, and was greeted by walls of uninteresting text and horrible looking characters.

Kingdom Hearts

Turn game on.
Satre blankly at slowly paced machinima for 45 minutes.
Turn game off.
Return game to store.

Dajhail - October 19, 2008 04:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I think I'd regret getting Kingdom Hearts if I'd ever got it.

I played it up to the point where I was able to get off that damn frustrating, miserable, pointless island at the start out of sheer stubbornness, then I quit in triumph.

ResendValidationEmail - October 19, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
any fps on console. fps should stay on PC

Gintech - October 21, 2008 04:23 PM (GMT)
I personally liked kingdom hearts. Probably because at the time I was a young horny 13 year old, so the flat chested chick was actually hot to me at the time.

I'm sure if I played it now, I would find it ridiculous. In fact I don't really like many video games anymore.

i got cought up in the hype, by their sneeky advertising i was douped into buying the third. i mean really what the fuck was the point of that battlefield diorama special if that damned battle never even took place. stupid microsoft!

I'll second that, i bought the movies only to find that to truely enjoy the game at its fullest you had to play it eather as a sim , an that tended to take away from the movie making aspect.

I got a load of games I bought played for a few hours and never touched again.

Stalker was one of the worst for this. I know a lot of people love it but I just couldn't get into it... I played it for about six hours and just found it to be a boring FPS which felt really awful and was just depressing. I couldn't keep interested in. I tried loading it back up and didn't care at all.
