Title: Out of the Shadows (Help with my game?)
Description: I'm not established...but I should be

Hi!
I am a game creator/spriter/artist/musician/whatever else I forgot. I have been making games (starting them at least) since idk, 5-ish years ago. I have always worked solo, and that has become an issue. I am working on a game that I want to be big, but the problem is, I have run into quite a few snags. I will tell you these snags but first I should tell you a bit about myself.

It was the summer between 8th grade and freshman year. I was up late on the computer one night and I stumbled across something that sounded interesting. RM2K. RPG Maker 2000 as we all know well. I was always big into rpgs (Shining Force, Final Fantasy) and the thought of creating my own RPG was extremely tempting. I delved into the world of rpg making then and there. I gathered sprites, faces, tilesets from near and far, japanese websites and english websites, from every corner of the internet. I also grabbed tutorials and utilities like idraw3 (hoho!) and icon changers. Around the same time I found emulators and I started playing RPG's that i'd never played before, like Fire Emblem which I am a huge fan of, Chrono Trigger, and every SRPG (tactics style) I could get my hands on. I began editing and customizing fire emblem faces for my games, all the GBA ones I used. I either found them on the internet or ripped them myself. I became quite good at it, first splicing them, then creating my own. I also got into the megaman zero games and began ripping/editing sprites from those.

This is about the time I can say I became a spriter. I also edited and made my own RM2K charsets. I also took well known already good ones and bettered them. All of my spriting was done in idraw3 one of my fevorite programs of all time. Truth is... I would still be doing all of that now if idraw3 would work on my computer, but alas it will not. So it has become very hard for me to work on my games because I hate using rtp and premade sprites. I lost everything I made on two seperate computer crashes, all except that which I posted on deviantart which was very little. I lost idraw3, all my custom and edited faces, all my sprites, and my 2 finsihed games, plus every project I had started. But I had started over twice and I still am not ready to give up!

I am once again going to try my hand at RPG making, though this time I need assistance. I have gotten RM2K up and working, and I don't really want to work on any other system. I am a digital music artist so music is not even and issue, I need sprites, character art, programming, facesets, and tilesets. Most bigger RPG making communities have shut down or have been under construction for way too long. (GamingGroundZero, Kobra's Realm, Kamain's, etc.) Plus after I lost my last two computers I also lost my favorites which held some very hard to find but really decent communities.

I have tried all RPG makers. RM2K, RM2K3, XP, VX, even all the lame playstation adaptations. I dislike most of them because of their lack of open ends. About the only thing I liked in XP was zero restrictions on sprite size and a slightly better battle system than RM2K. In VX all I liked was the icons with each item. RM2K3 I liked the battle system...kinda.

I want to complete this game. I have been working on it for a year now on pencil and paper. (I swear) It is a game about human emotion and struggle. There are two main parts to the game, Pre-War and Post-War. (The war is not included in the game because I want that to leave room for a sequel) The game has no one main character, it takes place in chapters, each character has a certain amount of chapters and hidden chapters (unlockable). Some characters' storylines come together, some charcters' stories are told through another character. And some storikes contain more than one primary character. I have about 12-ish main characters right now and a lot of the pre-war chapters written out. I don't need help on the plot and such, but I am open to ideas. I need a team most of all. With everything going on right now I NEED help with this project. If you are interested please respond to this or add your two cents or whatever. I would post more about my game but I am very protective of my ideas and I don't want them stolen, so if you want to know more, ask.

Thanks for reading this.

*phew* a lot of reading.

#1 tip when making a game: don't over-complicate it.

Legion saga was great, but how many characters did they need?

Also, I would offer my help, but I make music :P

I make better music.

Lol, j/k. Nah, we just got different styles. Hey great to hear about your game appreciacion. I didn't read all of it. But if you need any help with music and sound. Let me know.

NO! I make the music around here.
Nah, but uh, sit tight and wait for the site to be finished, there might be alot more people eager to work on something with.

Right now, almost everyone here are old geezers that has since long stopped making RPG's, spare for a few ones.
I'm not saying you won't get a reply but what i've seen around here for a while now is that most people aren't doing much in terms of RPG making.

No problem in trying though, and welcome to the forums :)

The people who could actually help are currently in suspended animation.
