I love the design of game consoles, each is a little work of art. PCs, TV's, DVD players, washing machines etc. are all generally generic looking functional boxes. You can take your flat rectangular BluRay player and stack it on your flat rectangular VHS player and stick a flat rectangular digital decoder on top and put them all in the rectangular slot under your TV. Which is great, who wants to fuck around finding places to stick a DVD player?
But games consoles don't care about slotting neatly with the rest of your home entertainment hardware, they're designed to stand out and look awesome. Trying to find a way to stack a SNES, a PSX and a Dreamcast is just going to lead to frustration and failure. So I dedicate this thread to these icons of form over function, may future game consoles continue in this fine tradition forever.

I was looking at my old PSX the other day. It looks so terribly ugly now. Same for my PS2.
I think the PS3 probably looks best but in reality it gets dusty and dirty really easily and this makes me swivel like fuck.
I got one of those WInd Waker Special Edition Gamecubes tho and that still looks great. Its a bit battered but it still looks really cool.

Really? I love the look of the PSX, it's iconic, it looks exactly how it should look. Less childish and toy like than a SNES or a MegaDrive, but not as stylish and mature as the PS2 or Xbox 360.
I love the PS2 too. It may look like a skyscraper but every now and again it's nice to have a console I can actually stack my other consoles on top of.

'360 is my personal fav. dunno why, but the european furniture look just seems to work for me. most consoles above all look like the sort of devices you saw in low budget sci-fi tv shows from that generation. enough said.
