Title: Playing around with Cubase
Shiro - December 12, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
Finally got around to getting Cubase to work on vista64, and i'd like some proper feedback on my orchestrations.. Shoot
Recently aquired StormDrums and stuff, so now i can really make those epic drums finally :]

Ryan suggested adding some processing on the dry drums, i'm going to try that when i continue on it

Just downloading now. I'll have a listen when I can.

Add a piccolo instead of flute. It will give you a darker tribal feel. The flue is just too low of an octave. Just try it. take the flute part an octave up. Oh and watch it on the perfect 5ths and 4ths sometimes minor 3rd and 2nds are better. Love the cadence @ 1:28!!! great ending great song. This could really be in a movie!! Just download some real woodwind and pipe loops and you've got it!!! Not too fond of the flute twitter at the end though...

I don't use loops and i was kinda going for a stargate atlantis kind of part, with the flutes.. i dunno, i'll check it out atleast

This is amazing. Really cinematic.
I don't really know what to say to improve it, because it isn't my area of expertise.
Good work!

Let's just say i've got a split personality atm, and i can't do much about it

Once again, testing some new stuff in cubase. Mostly emphazis on the panning of drums, inspired by the crysis warhead OST, added the solo gofriller cello for iraqi flavour, not entirely sure about it though.. I think i'm going for suspense- kind of ambience, if you disregard the cello.. To make the track less boring i added some orchestration and a bass that wasn't too synthy to fit
Thoughts and opinions are welcome
Edit: Whoops, forgot to link

interesting style, done well. what scale is that cello using?
also, the production on those drums is awesome. on the bit where the drums go solo, i think you could put a pit more notes in, to make it a kind of solo
seriously good work though!

I'm not sure it's constricted to a scale 8) Dunno i was wacking around with it alot, it's probably jumping between scales like spiderman between skyscrapers

... Sounds Mixelydian. I'm probably wrong.
JMickle - January 5, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
lol no biggie, just wondering really.
is myxelidian basically the same as a minor but the first interval is a semitone, not a tone?

oh wow, i might have learnt something in the last 5 years of music lessons i've had xd
Gintech - January 6, 2009 05:25 PM (GMT)
lol, well modes are easy.all you have to do is take a major scale Ionian, and start shifting a select note down a semitone. add shift down two, and you have another mode, shift down three and another, and so on.
Ariae - January 6, 2009 05:47 PM (GMT)
Finished chopping up some of the parts out of it, and renamed it only Iraq
