Title: Games you have finished recently
Gilrad - December 16, 2008 03:34 PM (GMT)
Me? Persona 3. I'm a lazy bastard so it took me damn near a year to finish it, playing on and off, starting over when FES came out, stuff like that.
You know that euphoric feeling you get when you finish a series/game/book that just knocks you square in the epiphany? That "watch the terrible side story ova just for the little continuation it provides" kind of thing? Yeah, this game. Maybe its the social link system, or the really good writing, or probably a mix of both, but I really got attached to the characters, to the point where I almost didn't mind spending damn near an hour after the final boss with all the closure I had to trudge through.
Anyway, off to see what I can do about Persona 4.
PS. Robot sex. Anybody who managed to max Aigis's social link will know what I am talking about :P

Let's see...
Fallout 3
Dead Space
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
L4D
Gears of War
Mass effect
Bioshock
Assassin's creed
Dark Messiah of Might And Magic
Red Alert 3
Stalker - Clear Sky
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - Vegas 2
..yeah, been pretty busy lately with my new rig :o)
Out of all of these, i strongly recommend:
Fallout 3
Dead Space
L4D
Mass effect
These are some of the better games i've played in a long, long time. Especially dead space and mass effect.

Can anyone recommend any more good freeware games?

I got REALLY addicted to Persona 3. Like thinking about it often and it really got me quite emotionally attached to it. <_<
Completing it was awesome tho. That final battle.... the music...

Once everyone wanted to play it, I hated it. Started hiding it so people would need an actual reason to come in here.

I've just completed Fallout 3. I can't say I was really let down by the ending, because after seeing the end of Morrowind and Oblivion I wasn't expecting much, but it definitely didn't impress me. Especially as you don't get to see what happened to all the places you visited afterwards like in the first two Fallouts.
- Seeing a giant robot go around stomping things and lasering things with his laser eye beams was nice and all, but the guy more or less finishes the last 'level' off for you while you watch. After he's done his thing you've got like five enemies and two doors to get through then you've won. And then you've got to sacrifice yourself or your friend for no good reason (you can't, for instance, send in the radiation proof party member you may have with you).
I really need to finish Persona 3 myself. I started playing it a while back but I got nowhere with it, though it didn't seem bad. I think it doesn't help that the time limit is a huge block that keeps me from wanting to play it. I had the same problem with the end of Half Life 2: Episode 2. As soon they said 'you need to hurry Gordon, as we don't have much time!' that was it, I knew I'd never be able to finish the last battle and I never did.

I haven't really finished any game for some time now, mainly because all I've been playing is MMORPGs.
Unless WOW-Burning Crusade counts. :P

oh god. all my respect for you has gone :P

I haven't finished anything in a long, long time because unfortunately these games have no end (music games). You could say I finished Rock Band. Kind of...
Otherwise, hmm...
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
...
That's it. Fuck me, I need to finish:
Gears of War 2
Fallout 3
Rock Band 2
Chrono Trigger (NDS)
Banjo-Kazooie (XBLA)
Lego Star Wars: TCS (Again...)
Lego Indiana Jones
Lego Batman

You see, the thing I like about P3 is, the combat system uses so much strategy I only ran into the "under leveled, saved before a boss fight" scenario once or twice during the beginning... And that's really the only reason I don't like games that impose a time limit.
About half way through the game, the time limit really isn't a time limit. For me, it turned into one or two runs through the dungeon (enough that I reached the point where I couldn't continue) per month, followed by grinding social links. Usually if I lost a boss fight after that, it is because I was stupid and/or careless in regards to the strategies I used.

Since Fable 2's release late Nov....
Fable 2 - 3/5
Dead Space - 3/5
Gears1 - 3/5
Mother3 - 4/5
Fallout 3 - 5/5
The only one I want to go back to is Fallout 3. I spent 60 hours on it and I can definitely spend quite a bit more. I'm playing through dmc4 at the moment.
