Title: Games of the Year 2008

What were the best games released this year in your opinion?

They can be for any console, handheld or computer, and ports are also allowed, so Mass Effect (PC) and Chrono Trigger (DS) etc. can be included despite originally being released earlier.

From what I've played my list would be... (in alphabetical order):

- Disgaea DS - The music's not as good as the original, but they make up for it with a new playable character, extra story, and commentary.
- Dynasty Warriors 6 - It's not the prettiest current gen game, but it's still got the awesome Dynasty Warriors music. And gameplay.
- Fallout 3 - It can be a pain in the ass, especially when you visit the city, but this is still the best there is at what it does.
- Grand Theft Auto IV - Improves the mechanics from the last gen GTAs a little, but throws out half the fun. Plus it interrupts you all the damn time with people wanting you to come pick them up and go bowling or whatever. But still, driving around and kicking ass hasn't gotten old.
- Super Smash Bros Brawl - Smash Bros again, except a little better, a little prettier, and with a lot more characters.

Damn, when I look at it like that, this year was kinda crap for games.

I get the feeling that I should check out the demo of Braid, a lot of people seem to be liking it.

I tried Castle Crashers and it seemed nice enough, but I got bored within two minutes and quit. I think it's probably the kind of thing you need four people playing to really enjoy.

metal gear solid 4 was my best gaming experience this year bar finishing persona 3 so that gets it.

Both of these are very worthwhile titles. Especially Braid.
