Character battles are so last month, so it has been suggested that instead of a boring character design tournament, we should have a pixel art contest!

It doesn't matter what you make, it can be a character, an object, a monster, a background, a Pink Floyd album cover... it can even be animated if you want to torture yourself. But it HAS TO BE GENUINE PIXEL ART, that is art that you have constructed basically pixel by pixel, not something drawn and resized.

The art must be 100x100 pixels OR LESS, there is no limit to the amount of colours you use, however using an excessive amount of them probably won't impress voters.

You can submit as many pieces of art as you like, of anything you like. As long as it's YOUR OWN WORK. This is not a character design contest, submitting your own version of a Sonic or Mario sprite etc. would be fine. You can even take old art straight from your own games, it doesn't have to be drawn for this contest.

No rush though, I'll keep this open until there's enough art to start it off.

What do you people think? An honest piece of pixel art, or a total cheat that goes against the very spirit of pixel artistry? Should it be allowed in the contest or not?

Okay, we got 5 entries so far (including the ones people have sent me), which is better than I thought after such a short time. So thanks to everyone who has taken the time to submit art, and no thanks to the ones who made better art than I did.

I'm leaving this open for a while yet, so no need to rush, but any new pixel artists would be welcome to enter, no matter how good an artist you think you are. It would be much more interesting to start this off with 16 varied pieces of work by different people, rather than having all of the art come from the same group of artists.
