Title: Old old member
Description: Almost seven years ago, I think.

Syrus - April 8, 2009 08:10 AM (GMT)
Hello. I am dropping by because much of what I've been doing tonight is the result of nostalgia for my earlier times in life. I went under the same name, and did not post a lot, except to show screenshots of RM2k games I was trying to make. I'd say I was about eleven or twelve; give or take. I remember doing fan art for squirrel. I remember IRC chats. I remember making games. I remember the feelings I had playing Kindred Saga, A Blurred Line, Idun Ymiraldor, Nigsek, etc. I hope the names of the RM2k games sound familiar to someone, because they were amazing. It is odd to look back at how long it has been. I don't know if a lot of old members drop by to see what is going on, so I'm sorry if this is all cliche. I guess I just kind of want to know where anybody who remembers me (chances I'll remember you) is at. Maybe even a little history of events that have occurred since then. Everything about the Rm2k community has changed, and I was wondering if such a thing still exists. Thanks.

Hmm, the name sounds familiar...

I think your avatar kinda looked like this:

I forget :/

Anyway, welcome back :)

There's not much of the old 2knet community still posting here, and even less of them are making games I'm afraid. Don't let that put you off posting more though :)

Of course :)

ABL is amazing.

Do you remember pot_noodle?

Yes, both of those avatars are mine. That's wild that you were able to dig those up.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It's a shame that old friends don't really post anymore. It has been a long time, though. I may post here occasionally just to spark many conversations on subjects that have been recently circling my life, because those are always fun.

I do have one question. What was arguably the very last monumental game created around the rm2k community? I'd like to know, because I would like to play it.

Gintech: I do remember pot_noodle. And I agree, ABL was amazing. I remember how blown my mind was while playing it. That someone who was not a professional game designer was able to create something so riveting. Ah, those days, aha.

I also forgot to mention... Does anybody remember sliths' dumbass.txt? I fear that I may have been a victim of that a long time ago. I forgot what I had said in it, but I know it was embarassing, haha.

adrian - April 9, 2009 12:43 AM (GMT)
how did you forget the greatest game of them all, blade sages

Oh thats real cool, the new guys post in the newbie forum, but old members get Tokyo Central, you cheeky bastard.

Nah, this forum seems to be somewhat alive which for an RPGmaking forum is a small miracle really.

Last epic game? Who says there ending?

Takuan is making a game, thank you.

It'll make a Blurred line a forgotten line. (Not really, that game had me orgasming)

Dajhail - April 11, 2009 03:27 PM (GMT)
There's a few other RPG maker forums still going that are way more active than here, like Gaming World, RPG RPG Revolution and rpgmaker.net, (Blade 2k maybe?) so it's not that much of a miracle, unfortunately. They've all got blue colour schemes too, suspiciously... but none of them ever quite managed to be as blue as 2knet.

What is a miracle is that old school people keep coming back here, when we don't even have a website, when most of the people here don't even make games any more. Something about this place made an impact on them, and they're called back every now and again out of nostalgia, curiosity, and subliminal brainwashing to check the forums out again.

Brings a tear to my eye it does.

Eh... 2knet is like my online home away from home. Or a Vacation from the internets... Of course it's where I met Stubby so.... yeah =D

I'm more for the nostalgia. =o

Ever try Ensyther racing?

Slowly but surely we are all coming back, perhaps with different names such as myself. Some of us are coming back as how most of us were remembered.

God, the nostalgia here. I almost forgot that old musky forum smell. :-P

It's good to see that some of you haven't dropped off the face of the planet. If you don't remember me, you probably remember the name Traitor Joe. I remember some of you in this thread: Dajhail, Phoenix Crash, Syrus, Captain Toasty, Adrian.

I really need to get back to the RPG making again, just for old times sake. I'll admit that the new RMVX really scares me... especially the trailer for it.

Reinas - May 23, 2009 04:38 PM (GMT)
Too much nostalgia.

Ariae - May 30, 2009 12:08 AM (GMT)
Ehehe, welcome back

It's the gathering... we are being brought back to fight Kim Jong-il in the coming continuation of the Korean war. :o

Wow, how did I end up here? Hi Syrus! Long time no see!

To be honest I don't know this site at all (Google Alert told me about this place) but what little I have seen this place seems really nice so I wouldn't mind visiting once in a while.

Anyway since you seem interested in what's going on with the old crew (and you mentioned two of my games) here goes: around the time I showed off screens of Idunn Ymiraldor 3D at GamingW.net (which was in fact my BA course's Final Major Project), I landed a pixel art job at a mobile phone games company and in the first year got two games BAFTA-nominated and our studio bought out by an american company - amazing turn of events! Sadly it went downhill from there and was made redundant, joined part of a startup company from there, then was made redundant from THAT place last September. What goes up must come down eh?

I am now self employed doing freelance work and have formed a new Flash games company, which you can see here: http://www.megadev.co.uk . So far that has been going really well and I would never go back to a boring desk job again. :)

While I have never truly left the RPG Making community I have stopped actually making RM games. I started a NigSek remake in RMXP years ago but I have dropped that now. You can see the work I did for it (as well as all the games I have worked on since the RM2K days) at my portfolio site - http://www.jontendo.co.uk . I need to update it with some new work actually.

Oh, one last thing; our new Flash game Knightfall 2 will feature a cameo or two from one of my old RM2K games. Keep an eye out if you ever play the game! :D

Wall of text ends here.

InnocentSoul - June 30, 2009 07:58 AM (GMT)
Yeah I know you, I know your work, and you made some phenomenal work with RM2K. I have to say that I used to play Idunn Ymiraldor back when you released it years ago. It was fun and beautifully made. It's good to see you here though to say hi.

Gintech - June 30, 2009 10:42 PM (GMT)
your flash games leave a lot to be desired. Nah j/k they're a ton more than what I ever could hope to do with flash.

Hey well welcome to the land of Unicorns and 2% Milk.

necromus - July 27, 2009 08:45 AM (GMT)
I also use to be an active member of this community about 7 years ago as well. I went by element1172. I think I remember chatting with Syrus back in the day.

Dajhail - November 11, 2009 11:15 AM (GMT)
Always cool to see old members dropping by, for nostalgia and shit :)

It's what these forums are here for after all.
