Emma

Emma was walking out of a club and down a dark alley, some big men following her. Her short black hair waving in the wind. She put her hands on the sides of their heads, their thoughts forming in her head like crystal clear. She smiled, sucking the thoughts into her head, their screams echocing throughout the alley.

Lexa was making a deal with some guys who wanted information and she was there to "take care" of them. First she had to make them trust her enough to get out of the damn car. So far that was not happening, making her inclined to just walk away and blow up the car.

Adam Kane was watching the scenarios play out, wondering which one would require his intervention first.
He had been monitoring both women, in a prelude to actually assessing them both mentally and physically for the rigors of being on the team.
Unfortunately, he had had some 'pressures' which had resulted in his having to wait, he had to be sure the time was right before making an open move.
If they werent ready, they'd end up dead - or worse, in Mason Eckharts hands.

Shalimar ran away from someone and ended up running into a alley and turned around flashing her eyes in warning. She was being chased by 3 men and she didnt want to give herself away. She already survived torture and beatings but wasnt planning on going through with that again. She noticed she was trapped and there was only one way out. She urged the men to come closer.- She was getting out of thereand the others were not gonna be doing much of anything as soon as she was finished with them.

That cinched it. Lexa knew the score - she was actively looking for trouble and more than capable of taking care of it.
Emma was... well Emma frightened hima little. Psionics could be so unpredictable as he remembered with Gabriel Ashlocke... forcing off the shudder that came on automatically at that particular memory, he turned his attention to a flashing email box.
His friend at an Institute had recently contacted him about a new inmate - a girl, blonde whom Adam suspected of being Feral.
The girl's name was at the top of the email - Shalimar Fox had it appeared, escaped the institute and had been declared dangerous and on the run.

Lexa finally got what she wanted and had been told to get. She walked away and tossed something that clattered to the floor.

Stupidly someone had gotten out without driving away and got blown up for his troubles, along with the car.

Mission accomplished.

It was all he could do to keep quite as Alisha droned on about the wedding and the plans for the wedding. Jesse picked up his glass and drained the last of the drink out of it, and then signaled the bar tender to bring him another gin and tonic. It was only six more months till the wedding, only six more months till he would have to be on guard 24/7 with Alisha. Only six more months till a relationship he had been happy in became a living hell.

Adam made his way quickly, weaving through the traffic lanes and getting updated on the bio in front of him. The more he read, the more he was convinced. She was definately feral - and getting a huge wack of her powers as well. Which thus far, had done nothing but terrify and cause the child misery, both at the hands of her father and the so called doctors at the Institute.
When he did catch up to her he was gonna be somewhat danger - she wouldnt know to trust him. Hell she might kill him outright.
With that sobering thought he continued to drive.

Shalimar fought the men off trying to get away before she hurt them. She knew what would happen and tried to control herself before it became a bloodbath. She already had that happen before and didnt want it to be like that again. She ran out of the alley with cuts and bruises. She ran passed the road trying to aviod the cars and people on the street. She looked for a place to hide anything. She looked behind her only one of her attackers ran after her.

The attacker was cut off abruptly by Adam's car, as he swiftly intervened having arrived in time to catch the tail end.
For a brief second their eyes met, brown eyes on blue, but he couldnt turn into her road - traffic wouldnt permit it.
He tried to convey a sense of security about himself, but she did as anyone else would and took off down the side alley.
He sighed in frustration, then glared at the surprised man whom he'd just blocked.

Shalimar seen the man in the car t hen her attacker. Before she ran into another alley and into a abandoned building. She was was cold, hungry, and hurting badly.She looked around and headed up the stairs fining a small room and went in there and sat down trying to catch her breath. The guy looked at adam and kicked his car and took off another way looking for the blond hair girl.

"Mind the paintwork!" Mocked Adam, with a smile.
He drove on ahead and then took a left, looking to come around in a wide arc
It was altogether possible that he wouldnt find her again, for a few days.
He only hoped he found her before anyone else did.

Shalimar ended up falling asleep for some time. She heard noises coming from below once she woke up. She groaned softly as she got up and flashed her eyes listening more. She could hear footsteps as if someone was looking for something or someone. *Maybe it was the guy who was after her* she started for the door to find out

Adam was definitely not going to be happy she just blew up a car but hey it was fun plus she got what was needed. One problem...she wasnt Lexa. Her eyes were white and her mind was nowhere to be found except in the depths of her subconciousness unaware of anything.

Hands reached out, and a quick stab of the needle rendered Lexa uncounscious.
Adam dragged her backwards quickly into the car - and he drove as quickly as he dared back to Sanctuary.
There would be hell to pay, but the instant he had detected the activation he had come. Lexa was scary enough when she was not under the control of someone else.

The man walked around and looked up suddenly before someone crashed into him from above. He looked into eyes that did not look human. Shal stared at the man her eyes feral and animal like. He paniced where he laid as he waited for her next move. Shal growled at him in anger " what do you want" she demanded. His no responce made her even m ore angry. She pulled him to stand and threw him. She circled him as if he was her prey now.

"C'mon Lexa. You're too heavy to be lumping around Sanctuary." Grumbled Adam Kane as he parked the car.
"It wasnt THAT much of a trank anyway!" He slapped her face lightly - trying to bring her round, and knowing he was asking for a smack right back when she did wake up.
"Hey firestarter. Rise and shine!" He called right in her ear.

Lexa jumped at being tapped on the face and ended up punching Adam right in the face.

"What the hell!" She yelped and scrambled to get out of the car, falling out of it. The last thing she remembered was being in Sanctaury...doing something. She wasnt sure what.

He reeled back, but recovered quickly.
"Gee thanks Lexa. Why dont you break something while you're at it!" He mock moaned, although he was glad to see that she was back and herself.
"Wanna explain your fun and games back there?" He demanded of her.

"What?" The perplextion in her voice very apparent. "I the last thing I remember is typing up a paper and then waking up here with you babaling in my ear. What fun and games?" She noticed ash and small pieces of metal on her clothes. "Care to explain?"

Kaylee sat down at the piano, troubled. Her mom wanted her to go stay with Lexa, but she hadn't seen or heard from Lexa in a few years. She picked up some sheet music, something to distract her while she considered this. Music always seemed to soothe her, but today it wasn't. A wrong note made her frown hard and she went back to the beginning to replay it over again.

Her mom's words kept ringing in her head, "Kaylee, you're really too old for us to keep a nanny for you. I think Lexa can handle you for a few months. At least until the school year starts in September. And no, you can't stay here by yourself. You're too young for that. And we really need to head out." A tear escaped her eye and dripped onto the piano keys. Frustrated by now, Kaylee slammed the cover shut. Living with Lexa probably means she won't get to play her piano at all this summer! That was too much to ask of Kaylee, was her opinion. Sighing, Kaylee headed upstairs to pack her belongings for now. At least that would keep her hands busy.

"Not really. The usual Lexa style mayhem." He caged. If he told her the truth, she would feel responsible, angry and probably go off to look for whoever it was who had directed her last little 'mission'.
"Let me run a quick scan of you and then we have to be on our way. Things to do, people to rescue, Mason to annoy..." He sighed, feeling older than his years. Waaaay older.

Emma

Emma finished off the men around her and strolled away, sprinting. Suddenly she stopped as she neared an alley and saw a woman being attacked by a group of men.

"Hey! Why don't you pick on someone your own... well, okay, not size but... well... ME!" she yelled, trying to get their attention away of the woman so she could help her.

Shalimar had been kicked in the gut and down on the ground. She flashed her eyes a moment and went to hit one of them when she stopped. She h eard a womans voice as she got up and was grabbed by one of the men. She growled and then flipped the guy off her and punched him hard in the chest. She flashed her eyes in warning to the men who looked at her and backed off and t hen looked at emma. " thank you" shal managed to say.

Lexa narrowed her eyes. "You're hiding something. What is it exactly?" She knew Adam fairly well enough to know. "You dont scan me unless somethings wrong." Now Lexa wanted to know what she had done to cause him to want to see what happened. She felt dirty and looked at her jacket. It had dust and debris on it. What the hell had she done now?

Kaylee Pierce

Her parents' driver to the airport arrived. Her mother was torn between her job and Kaylee's safety. Their orders had been moved up. They left with Kaylee promising to call her sister asap.

Back upstairs in her room, Kaylee relished the few hours of freedom. Normally, she was an obedient girl, but today she was contrary. She pulled out her latest book instead of her cell phone, which was on the bedside table, and read for awhile. Then the phone rang, making her jump out of her skin. She answered it and groaned. "Yes, mom, I'll call her as soon as I hang up."

Dreading talking to Lexa, Kaylee rang her sister's phone, knowing full well the chances of Lexa answering were almost non-existant.

Lexa

Lexa took out her phone to see the number and rolled her eyes. It said it was from her mother. What did her mother want now? Since when did she care to call and bug her? To Lexa her parents were dead and nonexsistant.

"What?" She snapped when she picked up.

Kaylee grimaced when she heard Lexa answer. "L-l-l-exa?" she said nervously. "I-i-it-t's-s-s m-m-m-e-e, Kaylee." She finally got control of her voice, surprised that Lexa even answered. "Mom and Dad had to leave on one of their work trips and I don't want to go to boot camp for the entire summer." She said 'entire' with a dramatic flair, but she was serious. "Please, can I come stay with you? Please, Lexa. I won't give you any trouble."

Lexa

Lexa softened slightly. Of course they would dump her sister on her, figures. "I can ask Adam but dont hold your breath," she answered curtly. Lexa was not surprised her parents did this. They gave her and Leo up so why not Kaylee? They didnt know how to be nice at all, not that it mattered anymore to her.

"Who's Adam?" Kaylee was a little curious, thinking it was a boyfriend. "I'm packed already, including my keyboard that has a headphone function so I won't disturb you when I practice." She sighed. The keyboard wasn't as much fun as her piano, but it was better than nothing. It had been a while since she had seen Lexa or Leo for that matter. She'd grown up lots since then. "The general is supposed to send the jeep for me in the morning, if I'm not settled someplace soon."

Adam had been listening at the door and his ears pricked up at the mention of his name.
Ask him what?
He sighed. Sometimes he wondered about Lexa Pierce and what her true motivation was. Then again she probably thought the same about him
He coughed politely. Then coughed louder when he didnt get the attention he wanted.

"When we're done chatting. We do have a mission to be getting on with Lexa. Small matter of saving the world.... New Mutants.... you know, the usual stuff." He said, waving a hand airily.

Lexa

"Yeah yeah!" Lexa yelled to the door. "I'll be there in a minute!" And he says I'm impatient she thought to herself. "Look I'll ask him in a bit then get back to you when I can. Gotta go back to work and I wont be answering my cell. Later." She hung up and opened the door. "You listening in on my phone calls. Isnt privacy something practiced in this mountain rock or do I have to go somewhere else for it?" She glared at Adam. Sometimes she wondered what his motivations were and why she signed up for this but she already knew the answer to the latter

"Well, one - I was coming to see you were okay. And two, we better find Shalimar Fox and Emma DeLauro, pronto. Things are heating up at Genomex - I don't like the way Mason's manovering himself to get more power." He answered, calmly. He knew it infuriarated her even more when he did that.

Lexa

"When arent they?" She growled. "Well let's go before anything else bad happens or at least try to get something done before it does." Bad things always followed her and Adam around. It was like they had a big red target on each of them saying "hit me" or "I'm looking for trouble"

Adam smiled.
"I was hoping you'd say that. But first, are you sure you're alright Lexa? I hope I didnt hit you too hard?" He asked her as he led the way to the hangar bay.
"Here, these are the bios of the New Mutants we're tracking. Hope you werent thinking of sleeping any time soon." He mock grumbled. Although Adam Kane's insomnia was legendary it didnt always follow that his colleagues had the same stamina.
