Title: Mutant X 1

Jordana Dask - February 19, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
Sam looked up from the pile of paperwork on her desk and grinned at her friend. Obviously Rain was 15 minutes late for work again, but apparently that didn't bother her at all. "EIC wants to do a cover story on the newly opened construction site downtown. For whatever reason that I cannot comprehend, he wants a full interview from the engineer of the project, as well as the architect."

She shook her head as she handed Rain a brown envelope. "I know we're a lifestyle magazine, but that place is anything from classy." She shrugged. "Good luck Ulan," she grinned at the pet name she gave her friend, "I need the transcript on my desk by tomorrow morning." She turned around, knowing she'd see a hilarious expression from Rain when she heard about the project.

Jordana Dask - February 19, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
"What is going on, Adam?" jesse asked, he was not goign to go away again with out an answer.

"Well, glad to hear that someone's taking notice of whats going on around here." Muttered Adam, and turned around to face them.
"First glance gave me cause to believe it was Emma's Psionic New Mutant DNA evolving again - but it isnt that. When she went out on her solo mission, she must have had some sort of physical contact with one or more of the people she encountered. I found traces of a toxin residue in her skin platelets of the right arm. That toxin is what's causing this." He looked grave.

"What do you need us to do?" Jesse asked as he walked over to Emma. "who do we need to find and how much longer do we have?'

"Well asnobody was with Emma, we'll need her corroboration as to the 'who'. As to the 'why', we can only assess that when we know who the 'we' are. I'm going to try and revive Emma now." Answered Adam.
He crossed over to where the young Psionic lay, and readied a shot of something.

Jordana Dask - February 19, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Rain gave a you've-got-to- be-kidding- me look. She knew Sam was serious and it sucked. "We are one of the best reporter journalist people and they give us this? Now that just says a lot on how they think of us. Sheesh." Rain gave a scowl huffed, making her hair fall in her face. "Guess I'll need a hard hat though I dont see why." She gave a lopsided grin on that one.

"Try? That sounds like she'll never wake up and is in a coma," Brennan narrowed his eyes at Adam.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
"Yes and no. As far as I can tell the coma effect ISNT part of whatever this toxin was designed to do. I think she detected what was happening and entered this state in order to rectify whats happening to her." Said Adam, not meeting Brennans gaze.
"Here we go." He administered a shot of something and stood back expectantly.
Would it work? Would Emma wake up?

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Sam shrugged. She could sense Rain's irritation, and it only added to her uneasiness. She pondered on whether to tell her friend about her last vision, but she didn't want to burden her as well. Sighing she turned and faced the other woman. "Listen Ulan," she said in a hushed whisper. "Just... be careful ok? I have a bad feeling about this." It wasn't merely a feeling though. Being a precog, Sam knew something BAD was indeed going to happen. Nodding, she added, "And stay away from dark alleys." She still wondered if she should tell Rain the whole vision. Knowing her friend, Rain would most probably do what she told her not to do, just for the sense of adventure. That's why she didn't want to tell her what she saw.

Besides, what she usually sees are only future possibilities, right?

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Rain's grin turned to a frown and she leaned on the desk becoming serious. "What did you see? Anything or is this a gut feeling?" Rain took Sam's warnings seriously, gut feeling or vision it didnt matter. She may have brushed off someone elses feelings a little but not a psionics let alone a close friend.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Sam rubbed her forehead. She should have known better. It was no surprise that Rain would press on such a serious matter. Sighing in resignation she leaned closer so that others won't hear their conversation. Thank goodness for office dividers.

"Dark alley, men in black, rifles, blood," she shuddered at the last word. "Rain, promise me, you will not do anything stupid today while you're working in the field." Sam only called her by her real name when she's dead serious. "Promise me Rain. Or I swear I'll give this assignment to someone else."

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:51 PM (GMT)
"I promise I wont get shot or try to save people. I'll go there, get what is needed and come back. That make you feel better?" Rain asked, being serious. She did not want anyone else to have the job especially if it was dangerous. She was feral and she was damn sure she'd be better off than a normal person.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:51 PM (GMT)
Sam relaxed a bit, not much. She nodded. "Okay then, I trust you." She tilted her head, pondered for a while. "On second thought, I trust you that you won't get shot... but I'm not sure about the 'not saving other people' part." A raised eyebrow. "No Messianic complex okay?"

She sighed again. "Why do I get the feeling that our boss knows more about us than he is telling?" No need to be psionic about that; it wasn't the first time that the EIC made them do bizzare assignments.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
Rain's eyes darkened. "Too bad we couldnt beat it out of him. We'll have to see what else he has done besides this. Maybe he is in league with enemies? Let's hope not. Anyways I have my phone as usual so if you find anything lemme know."

She took the folder and headed to her car.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
Sam rubbed her forehead as she watched her friend leave. "Please don't let anything happen to her," she whispered a small prayer. After a few more minutes of fixing her things and doing last-minute updates, she stood up and headed for the door. It was only an hour before her next class, and she needed to drive to the university.

She hoped that her vision won't come true this time.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
Rain was at the construction site in a little over twenty minutes and got out. She talked to the guy by the gate and had her sign in then hande dher a hard hate. He lead her around all the dangerous construction to the head of the project. Rain interviewed him for over an hour then left after watching for a bit. She hated the noise as it was extremely loud to her.

Looking to her left she thought she saw something and heard yelling. She went to the tall fence that kept her and the yelling apart and when no one was looking she jumped to the top then down behind a dumpster. Rain didnt pay attention to the fact that she was in an alley....

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
Sam parked her blue sports car in the carpark of her university and got out. She still had 30 minutes to study before her class, so she decided to head for one of the benches in their quad. Upon sitting on a stone bench another vision flashed before her, making her dizzy. She gripped her books tightly and shut her eyes closed.

"Ulan, you silly..." she whispered, annoyed. "I told you to stay out of trouble."

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
Rain watched two people get killed. Why she was not sure she didnt catch that. Oh $hit she had to sneeze, the dust got to her. When she did the talking stopped and she knew she was caught.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
Sam bolted up straight, making her books scatter all over the gravel. A kind male student who happened to pass by helped her pick up the books and nodded politely before leaving. She raced towards her car, not knowing what to do. She had the gut feeling that Rain was going to be in so much trouble soon. She took her phone and started calling her, still not leaving the parking lot. She'd have to skip class for the first time. Leave it to Rain to make her neglect her studies.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
Rain ran, feeling her jacket vibrate. Running with feral speed she got rid of her asaliants easily but they knew what she looked like. Taking out her phone she answered it.

"I didnt do it!" Was the first thing she said. She already knew it was Sam. The wonders of caller ID.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:55 PM (GMT)
"Where the heck are you?" Sam all but growled. She could have sworn she turned feral that instant. Starting her car's engine she pulled out of the parking lot while turning her phone into speaker mode.

"Give me a location," she all but yelled as she sped away. "I wish I could track you, but I'm a precog, not a GPS."

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
"Dont worry about me, go to your class. I can survive. Besides I lost them." Rain turned around. "Damn maybe not." She ran again, dodging bullets.

"I go the wrong way and I end up in trouble. Is it like attracted to me? I didnt go looking for it I swear!" She got nicked in the leg. "Damn it that hurt you b******s! Those were a good pair of pants too!" She snapped.

"Ravenglass and Freemont!"

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
“Rain!!” Sam screamed. She heard fighting at the other end of the line; apparently Rain dropped the phone and was currently struggling with the guys. “I told you to stay away from alleys!”

She steadied herself and parked the car on the side of the road. Closing her eyes she concentrated at her friend, hoping to locate her. It was no use. It was hard for her to use her powers when she’s stressed.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
The guys were ontop of her when she was hit in the leg. It burned and was bleeding.

"These were a good pair of pants!" Rain snarled and punched one of the guys, breaking his nose. "You messed with the wrong b*tch," she said dangerously and flashed her feral eyes. She got a surprise when one other flashed his eyes.

"Oh look a little puppy dog," she snorted, seeing that he was a canine feral. "Bring it on!"

He came at her with kicks and punches. Obvious he was trained but not in the military fashion like Rain so she was better. He went down then four came at her, getting past her defenses as they hit her with the back of their guns, electric surges or strength.

This made her more angry and eventually she threw them all off at once. Another guy came at her and she swung at him, getting deep slashes in his face.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
Sam opened her eyes, feeling helpless. Why oh why does that friend of hers always get herself in trouble? She told her to stay away from alleys. She made her promise not to do anything stupid. And now her vision was coming true. Future possibility was turning into the real future.

And she couldn't do a thing about it. Gripping the steering wheel tightly she knew that only prayers will work. "Please, please don't let anything happen to her," she whispered.

Jordana Dask - February 20, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
Hey! It wasnt like Rain went actively looking for trouble! Trouble followed her like a bee is attracted to flowers and she was curious what all the yelling was about. They say curiosity killed the cat but one problem was that Rain was no ordinary cat and she sure as hell was not going to die right there because some idiots had to kill two people in an alley way and not a more private place. Jeez, some people are just so inconsiderate! Then again when were killers considerate?

If one tells Rain to stay out of trouble, it'll find her anyways. Not that all of the trouble was a bad thing, it was sometimes fun and turned out to be a good thing. Not in this case.

Rain had bruises and a nice bloodly lip. Hey could be worse, she could be dead but she was still pissed off.

A guy came running at her with a thick piece of wood, intent on hitting her with it, got a low kick to the groin which made him go down and not get up. He wouldnt be causing trouble any time soon along with other things. The next one got a spinning wheel kick to the face, a busted jaw and let go of the pipe he got a hold of. Rain grabbed it and did a 240 degree swing to hit the next guy in the gut but it didnt do anything as he has massed out. She backed up while he threw kicks at her then right when he had to breath she hit him hard. Rain heard the click of a gun and turned to see the guy she had slashed in the face pointing it at her.

Oh $hit, she thought and knew she was about to be killed right then and there. The shot rang out and she fell back on the floor, bleeding.

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
"Rain!" Sam yelled when another vision flashed before her eyes -- her friend bleeding on a cold concrete floor. This time around, she knew the location. Shutting her eyes close for a minute to steady herself (since visions usually make her faint), she then restarted the engine and sped towards the location, praying that she'd get there in time.

Five minutes more and she could sense her friend, along with other unfamiliar men. "This is going to get nasty," she whispered as she got out of the car.

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 03:06 AM (GMT)
No Rain was not dead thanks to the guys vision being impaired from blood. He had gotten her in the right shoulder below the collar bone.

"Oh you are so going to regret that!'' Rain snapped and got to her feet in a crouching position. She lunged at him and knocked him over, another gunshot ringing out from him falling on his back. Rain kicked the gun out of his hands and punched him solidly in the throat. "Stay down!" She snarled.

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
The rest of the guys all suddenly became disoriented, not being able to see a thing. Sam concentrated on making them all feel blind as she crept over to her wounded friend. "You," she whispered, half-pulling and half-dragging Rain along, "We'll talk about this later." She led her to where her car was parked, all the time sending a sense of blindness to the men.

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
"Hey! I didnt go actively looking for them!" Rain hissed. "I promised I wouldnt go looking for trouble. They found me!" Rain headed to the car after grabbing one of the guys shirt so she wouldnt bleed all over Sam's car.

"Next time I'm staying home and staying put when you have those images!"

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 05:11 AM (GMT)
Sam entered the driver's side and started the engine. "We'll go back for your car later," she said as she sped away. "We have to get that treated first." A pause. "I told you to stay away from alleys. You never listen." She glanced at her feral friend and saw the blood. "I just had this car cleaned you know." She sighed.

Three more stoplights and they were back in the city proper, and Sam wasted no time in heading towards a private clinic. "Now start thinking of an alibi for that wound."

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 05:20 AM (GMT)
"All I did was follow some yelling and I didnt know it was an alley until I sneezed and ran out. Leave it to me to get caught by sneezing. I definitely need to go back to boot camp and get myself retrained as for the blood....I SO tried to keep the blood off. I'll pay for the cleaning and no hosptials. They study your blood and they'll see that I am not normal. The last thing I want is to end up in a lab being studied because of a freak genetic manipulation."

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 05:30 AM (GMT)
Sam stepped on the brakes. "Fine." She took a right turn and headed for her condo. "First my car, then my condo..." she muttered, shaking her head. "I'll call my dad to send for a private doctor. And don't protest or I'll psy-blast you to put you to sleep."

Sam's facial expression softened a little as they reached her condo. "Really Ulan," she said, smiling kindly. "We need to get those wounds treated, and don't worry, I'm not going to tell dad that the doctor's for you. He doesn't like you enough without knowing of the trouble you always get me into."

Sam laughed. It was true. Her father objected Sam having Rain as a friend, thinking the other girl was too impulsive for his daughter. Little did he know how crazy Sam was.

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
Rain had to laugh at that. "If only Daddy dearest know his little girl," she smirked. "Hey the condo has wooden floors you know! I can mop that up and this shirt is doing a pretty good job of keeping my lovely blood off the car. So it has a drop or two. I could just take it off and let it go all over the car." She blinked innocently. Rain knew better than to object to the private doctor except one question. "So what are we going to tell the Doc about the blood they are gonna analyze?"

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 05:44 AM (GMT)
Sam raised an eyebrow. "You just try spilling blood on my car," she mock-threatened. "I'll make you my slave for a month." She got out of the car and signaled for Rain to follow. Opening her condo she let Rain enter, knowing the feral was familiar with the place.

Picking up her phone she dialed her father's number. "Yeah, dad, it's me. Yes. I need a doctor in my condo now... no, no... yes I'm fine, just a routine check-up, I'm too lazy to go to the clinic..." She winked at Rain. "Yes, 30 minutes? Cool, thanks dad."

Sam hung up the phone and smiled. "Don't worry. I can bend the doctor's mind a little after he treats you so that he'd forget whatever it is he finds out." She started for her room. "Let me get you a clean shirt."

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 06:02 AM (GMT)
"You make me do anything funny like clucking and walking like a chicken I'll shoot you," Rain gave a mock glare. Her eyes danced with laughter, showing she was kidding with her friend.

Rain walked inside the warm condo and smiled. She remembered the flower smells and the lingering scent of food. It was the size of her large apartment only with different looks and feels since both her and Sam had different personalities and tastes.

"Wait until the Doc takes care of this so I wont stain another shirt. Dont need anymore blood around your nice pretty floors and rugs."

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
Sam laughed as she stepped out of her room. "Who said I'm lending you another shirt?" She threw Rain a green polo. "You haven't even returned five of my baby tees yet. That one is, miracle of all miracles, yours." She grinned. "You left it two weeks ago and I kept on forgetting to give it back." She walked over and examined the wound. "Does it hurt? I can give you something for the pain."

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)
Rain grew wide eyed at the polo. "This thing is mine?" She picked it up like it was dirty but it wasnt. "You're kidding me. This had to be from work or something cause I dont wear polos! Oh and your tees are in my closet. You know you're perfectly welcome to come and get them. You have a key for something you know," Rain smirked. When she said key she meant a key and the entry code. This feral had more security measures than a museum...okay a mild exaggeration but Rain had valuables in her house that if were taken would be major trouble and she didnt mean vases or gold necklaces.

"Nah, I'll live. They'll give me something I'm sure and besides I want my car back before it gets covered in more dust," she laughed. It hurt but she'd live. Thing about ferals is that they have a high tolerance for pain that always came in handy.
[

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 06:27 AM (GMT)
Sam laughed at Rain's reaction. "Yes dork, you left it two weeks ago, along with, like, three of your books," she answered, pointing at the direction of her room. "Do you want me to have your car towed? I can call someone up," she said, picking up the phone. "And don't worry about the tees, not like I'm dying to wear them again." She laughed. Being an only child, Sam's mother made sure to supply her with new clothes every week. It irritated her sometimes because she can buy her own, but sometimes it was convinient, especially when she has no time to shop because of school and work.

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)
"You're so gonna make me owe you like five thousand arent you?" Rain teased, chuckling. "Just have them tow it here then I cna drive home if I'm not drunk on drugs that is." She looked at the books Sam was pointing at on her right. "Oh so thats were they went! Thought I had them somewhere at your house or mine." In reality Rain had figured they were here and just liked to be disorganized on purpose to either annoy Sam or make her seem like a slop for grins.

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 06:39 AM (GMT)
Sam rolled her eyes and made a short call. After putting down the phone she grinned. "You don't have to pay me with cold cash. A vacation somewhere will suffice." She loved teasing Rain about going on vacations, because the feral always gets annoyed whenever Sam needs to cancel because of school or work.

"And those books..." she said, pointing. "I don't mind making them coffee table books, but I don't think my guests would appreciate reading about... how do you read that anyway?" She faked a growl.

Jordana Dask - February 21, 2006 06:46 AM (GMT)
"They are science fiction and fantasy with a little romace. They arent that bad ya know!" Rain said in a childish pouting tone that was just a joke. "Any coffee stains and you are so paying for new copies when we go on a trip somewhere and you are SO not canceling. I'll hack into the class schedule and put that there is no class for that or I'll make the teacher sick." Rain would love that chance to do that.

imjuzakyd - February 21, 2006 07:38 AM (GMT)
Sam shook her head. "You're evil, you know that?" A doorbell. "The doctor's here," she said, nodding. "He's a little early, don't you think?" Sam glanced at her security monitor (yes, her father's a sucker for her safety) and checked if it was indeed the doctor or some unexpected visitor. She shrugged when she recognized the doctor.

"Be back in a sec," she winked, heading towards the door. Within another minute she returned with a man in a white polo shirt. "Sorry for the short notice doc, my friend here happens to get into one of her not-so-friendly fights." She smiled.

Would it work? Would Emma wake up?

" wait what" shalimar asked confused and watched what adam was doing. She looked at brennan and then at the others. She looked at brennan and seen he had the same concerns as herself. " do you think if this doesnt work that she wont wake up?" she was worried now and moved closer to brennan and jesse.
