Title: Grey's Anatomy - Life, Love & Medicine

Meredith
Hi. I'm Addison Shepherd.
Shepherd?
And you must be the woman who's been screwing my husband.
Meredith's eyes widened. "What? What does she mean, Derek? Your husband? You aren't married? No wedding ring... She must be mistaken or out of her mind, TELL her she has it wrong, Derek!" Meredith demanded in a suddenly hoarse voice.
Gaia - March 6, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
Addison
Smirking as Meredith began a mini-rant, Addison sat back to watch the reaction to her words. She wasn't usually a vindictive creature but the discovery that Derek had a girlfriend was enough to make her blood boil. He is such a hypocritical ass. It's like we're even divorced yet and here he is, sleeping around, just like I did! Well, maybe not just like. You did sleep with his best friend, Addison. Well, yeah, but he's so hurt and betrayed he moved all the way across the country to succor his wounds? And then he gets in bed with the first thing he comes across! Yeah, he must have been just heartbroken to see me with Mark. The asshole rat fink bastard.
Blood starting to rise once more, Addison kept it from showing on her face, calm smirk the only evidence of emotion on her pale features. She'd be damned if she let Meredith see how upset she really was. "I'm not wrong," she said quietly in reply. "It's hard to mistake your own husband."

Derek to Meredith and Addison
Shit he thought. The woman screwed my best friend and then she follows me cross country to wreck my life again. What the hell does she want from me?
"She's half right, Meredith. What she neglected to tell you was that we will very soon be divorced," Derek said simply. He kept his hand at the small of Meredith's back, praying things wouldn't blow up in his face.
"Addison, what the hell are you doing here? I found you in my bed with my best friend...our marriage is over. There is nothing you can save. I have moved on. I'm happy," he told her.
And he was happy with Meredith. He had felt like he was drowning in everything that had happened, and then there was Meredith. She saved him from drowning. She pulled him to the surface and let him get fresh air. She made life interesting and worth living again. And now...well now he could only hope she wouldn't kill him.
Jessica - March 7, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
Meredith
Meredith turned to look in Derek's eyes, "Your lying, she isn't your wife. This is an elabora sick joke, right. Somewhere Christina and Izzy and George are all back waiting laughing their heads off... This is a very bad joke, Derek. I don't like this... Why are you doing this to be?" she said in a squeaky voice.
leo_pipers_guardian_angel - March 7, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
Derek
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "She's not my wife. She's my soon to be ex-wife. I'm divorcing her Meredith..." he trailed off.
This is not going well at all. But at least she hasn't knocked me out or stormed away. Deal with Meredith now, take care of Addison and her twisted, cynical form of life crashing later.
"Meredith...can we talk about this somewhere else?" he asked her softly. He really did not want to see her freak out in the middle of the hospital waiting room where she worked...where they both worked. "I'll tell you everything...I promise. But what you need to understand right now is that there is a divorce in progress. I'm not going back to her, and I wasn't cheating on her with you. I wouldn't do that to you. Now can we please go talk about this at your house or my trailer?"
Gaia - March 7, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
Addison
"What about this is hard for you?" she said waspishly to Meredith. "He's my husband. We got up in this big building that oddly resembled a church, and lo and behold! There was a pastor in front of that building that said these words over us... we replied with something like 'I do.' I was wearing white. Derek, I believe you were in a tux, remember?"
Rolling her eyes in Meredith's direction, she turned to her husband. "As for your questions, I'm here because Richard offered me a job. And I'm going to take it." So put that in your pipe and smoke it, she thought.
"Also, Derek," Addison said, raising one finger to her chin, a wondering expression on her face. "I'm pretty sure it's cheating right up until the judge signs the papers, which I'm relatively certain hasn't happened yet. In fact, I don't remember hearing about any papers, period."
Jessica - March 7, 2006 09:37 PM (GMT)
Meredith
She almost refused to budge but then moved, "One chance! One chance you have to explain yourself Derek and it had better be the best explaination in the history of explainations is all I gotta say for you!"
Jessica - March 7, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
Meredith
"Wait! She's STAYING here, Derek!? I... whoa! No way she can stay here, that's... no good... I need to take a walk, a LONG walk!" she said, turning and going out the door."
(an extention of my other post)
leo_pipers_guardian_angel - March 7, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
Derek
Thank God...she's giving me a chance.
"Thank you," he told her softly.
Then he turned to Addison. Great, she's taking a job here. Peachy. SHe's a wrecking ball, that's what she is. A wrecking ball for life. "You're a human wrecking ball. It's not enough you rip out my heart back in New York, now you follow me out here and try to do it again...you're pathetic. A pathetic, adulterious bitch. And I don't want to be a part of it anymore. Take the job or no...you're not getting me back. As soon as I get the divorce papers, I am signing them. Now excuse me, I have a life to live...without you," he told her angrily, doing his best to keep his voice down as he took Meredith's hand and started leading her toward the door.
Gaia - March 7, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Addison
She started searching for words, unable to figure out how to reply to his diatribe. Oh god, maybe I am. Maybe I am a bitch, a wrecking ball that just destroys his life. But it didn't start out that way... why can't he remember that? Things are never one-sided. Where was he when I needed him? Where was he when at 3 in the morning when I woke up, still only taking up my side of the bed, all alone again? Okay, I cheated on him and that was horrible, but... Damn him to hell, he checked out of our marriage long before that!
Tears coming to her eyes, she turned away from the sight of Meredith and Derek, blindly heading down the hallway. "That's still adultery, Derek," she whispered. "That's still adultery, you hypocritical bastard."

Cristina
After a VERY long day and one that she was glad was over, Dr. Cristina Yang headed across the street and over to 'Joe's'. Even though she was pregnant and knew the risks she still wasn't above to having at least one drink.
She made her way to the bar and took a seat at the counter. "Joe, give me a rum and Coke."
"Going a little lighter tonight, Cristina?" Joe asked as he prepared her drink.
"Yeah, you could say that." Cristina replied. She then glanced over and saw George. "So, Dr. O'Malley taking in some spirits tonight?"
Tag: George
OOC: Hey Mark, thought I would set this up with George at first talking to Cristina :D
rpgamer501 - March 8, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
George
"I don't know that 'taking in the spirits' is the right word. Perhaps getting smashed drunk would be a better term..." he slightly slurred. For bleary-eyed George, he looked even more bleary for a change. "What about you? Ole Dr. Burke giving you some... er..." He re-phrased his question. "Dr. Burke making you..." He tried a third time, still. "Are you and 'Preston' an item?"
Okay, it was totally off direction from where he started, but oh well, George thought as he took another sip from his drink.
Dana - March 8, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
Cristina
OOC: Oh man leave it to George!lol
BIC: Cristina nearly choked on her drink at George's question. "Oh come on George are we back on that again? Is that all that's going on in the thick head of yours?"
She knew she had to change the topic and quickly! She glanced around the bar searching for ANYTHING to get her out of this! And as if angelic music started to be played on cue, she saw Lysette walk in.
"Well, well, well looks like someone up there does like me after all." She grinned.
She took a sip of her drink and then looked at George. "Hey George, check out who just walked in."
rpgamer501 - March 9, 2006 03:06 PM (GMT)
George
Leaning forward on his folded arms, George's head tilted to look over his shoulder. "Uh, oh..." he mumbled. "Maybe I should make myself scarce. She'll want to come over and talk more about her 'friend' in the hospital. Then I'll have to go 'work'... and I'm not all for going 'work' when I'm not going at 'work', you know?" He rambled on for another moment or two, evidence of the alcohol content in his blood taking effect.
Dana - March 9, 2006 05:16 PM (GMT)
Cristina
OOC: Too funny Mark!
BIC: Cristina shook her head. Was George really this stupid? She prayed that it was just the alcohol but wasn't about to let him make a mistake like this. She watched as Lysette took a seat on the far side of the bar.
"Rum and Coke, please." Lysette replied to Joe.
Cristina looked at George. "George, listen to me you are not going anywhere. And you are NOT on duty right now so stop saying that. I am only saying this to you because I'm your friend." She paused. "Do you plan to just remain in a fantasy world about Meredith and let every other opportunity pass you by? Are you going to remain by yourself for the rest of your life?" She gestured toward Lysette. "What harm would there be in just talking with her? I'm sure she will talk to you about more than just her friend if you give her the chance. Look she's at a bar which indicates something is on her mind. So...why don't you be the knight in shining armor and go over there and make her feel better?"
rpgamer501 - March 9, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
George
He sighed softly. But letting the alcohol do the walking, he picked his drink up and headed down, sliding onto the stood beside the girl. He looked over to her, sizing her up for a moment before propping his head up with his hand, looking at her dreamily.
"Hi..." he mumbled, somewhat bashful. Luckily it was numbed by the booze. "Rough day?"
Dana - March 10, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
Cristina and Lysette
Cristina put her hand to her forehead and sighed. "God, George I didn't want you to scare her off!"
Lysette turned to George and smiled. "Dr....Dr. O'Malley? What...what a nice surprise. I guess I didn't expect to see a Dr. here. Not that I'm saying that doctors aren't entitled to drink, I think they are. Particularly when they have to deal with the things they do every day like surgeries and patients dying and..."
She then realized that she was rambling and stopped. "What...what did you say? Oh you asked if I had a bad day was it?" She looked down at the drink that Joe had just finished making. "Well, actually, I..."
Before she knew it she had accidentally bumped the glass and it spilled onto George's shirt.
"Oh my god!" Lysette cried. She looked around desperately for napkins and started to place them on George's shirt. "Oh, Dr. O'Malley! I'm....I'm so sorry! I...I don't know what came over me, I..."
rpgamer501 - March 10, 2006 01:39 PM (GMT)
George
Chuckling, George took some of the napkins, covering Lysette's hands with his own. "It's okay, really..." he laughed, finally disengaging his hands from hers. "If you didn't spill it on me, I would have done so myself. Or perhaps I should return the favor?" The phrase wet t-shirt contest came into his mind. "Only kidding... really, I won't melt."
Dana - March 10, 2006 02:39 PM (GMT)
Cristina and Lysette
Cristina had to cover her mouth to prevent laughter from escaping it as she saw Lysette spill her drink on George. It almost seemed like these two were made for each other that is if George didn't blow it.
Lysette had paused when she felt George's hands on hers. Except for on the stage, no man had touched her hands before. She was not completely listening until he talked about returning the favor. "Wha...what?" She sighed. "Dr. O'Malley, I really am sorry. This is exactly why I try to avoid men. They...they always make me nervous for some reason and I do stupid things like this. You must think I'm a complete idiot and I can't blame you." She started to reach into her purse. "Here, let me at least give you some money for a new shirt."
rpgamer501 - March 10, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)
George
He supressed a chuckle again. "No, really..." he grinned, looking from his shirt to her. "And it's George. In the hospital, I'm Dr. O'Malley. Here... I'm just George." He gave her a smile, turning back to his drink, folding his arms on the edge of the bar in front of him.
"And it's really wrong of you to avoid men." His face contorted a bit. "Then again, that seems to be my problem as well... I guess I avoid women for the same reason. I'm usually a bumbling idiot that can't do anything right around them." He gave her an apologetic look. "So I'm sorry if I do anything, in advance. I guess it's the alcohol that gives me courage."
Dana - March 10, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
Lysette
Lysette smiled. "Well...George it appears that we have something in common when it comes to being around the opposite sex. Although, I personally can't understand just why you would feel that way looking like you do." She blushed slightly. "I'm sorry sometimes being honest can be one of my weaker points. And...I don't think you're bumbling at all. I think you're kind....intelligent, compassionate and...well after telling me what you just did and coming over here on your own, I would call you pretty brave as well. And I don't think it is entirely the alcohol either. It can impair us a little yes but...I always believe that we wouldn't do something that we wouldn't normally. But...it allows us to relax more and..." She sighed. "There I go rambling again. I told you that I'm not very good at this."
rpgamer501 - March 10, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)

"I thought you were about to say 'have sex'!" George blurted out in his drunken stupor. He very, very quickly realized what he said (a little too loud) and dropped his head, embarassed beyond words.
"OhmogodIcan'tbelieveIjustsaidthat..." he mumbled under his breath. He finally looked over at Lysette, stiffly before looking away. "I'm sorry... it's the booze... I apologize... I'll be leaving now..." Red as a beet, George turned to get up and retreat back over to Cristina.
Dana - March 10, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
Lysette
OOC: OMG LOL! That was too funny! Way to go Mark!
BIC: Normally had a man said something like that to her, she would have allowed him to leave, that is of course after smacking him. But she felt that George was different and were it not for the alcohol had not said such a thing. Regardless of what he had just said, she felt he was a gentleman.
"George, wait." She took a breath. "Please...please don't go. I know this will make no sense to you but...I really don't want to be alone right now and could use someone to talk to. I know....that I don't know you that well but...well I get feelings from people and I don't think that you are a bad person. Not like so many of the men I have met. Just listen to me that is all I ask. And then...if you want to leave after that you can. You're a doctor, George and that is why I trust you. So...would you...just stay here....and keep me company...for just a little while?"
rpgamer501 - March 10, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
OOC: Thank you! ::takes a bow::
George
Looking back over his shoulder like a deer in the headlights, George finally nodded and settled back down into the stool. He looked into Lysette's eyes, genuinely apologetic. "I'm sorry... I don't know why I said that. I know it's tough visiting from somewhere else when you have a friend in need." He gave her his best smile.
"Where are you from, by the way?"
Dana - March 10, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)
Cristina and Lysette
When Cristina saw George starting to come toward her, she had held out her hand to Joe. "Pay up."
Joe had started to hand her a ten dollar bill when he saw George turn. "Uh,uh, uh hold on."
Cristina watched as he went back toward Lysette. "I don't believe it."
Lysette looked back at George. "There is no need to apologize to me, George. It sounds like we've both had a trying day. And you're right, I am a stranger here in a big city." She took a sip of some of the remains of her drink. "I actually came here from California. I go to college there but classes are over for Spring Break. My friend Jocelyn is from Seattle though and there is nothing that I wouldn't do for her. Her...family is not particularly helpful to her." She cleared her throat. "Are you...originally from Seattle? See I was actually born and raised in a small town in Massachusetts. What a change from California, huh?"
rpgamer501 - March 10, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
George
George seemed to ponder the conversation in the glass of alcohol he had, drinking it much, much slower. "California, huh? I hear they have 'air bars' where you pay to sniff the air, and 'holistic healers' that don't use conventional medicine..." he smiled, but there was something in her expression that gave him pause.
"I mean... you need medicine and such... right?" He shrugged. "Otherwise, I'd be out of a job!"
Dana - March 11, 2006 05:36 PM (GMT)
Lysette
OOC: Boy George sure knows how to go for the jugular doesn't he? :P Maybe Cristina will win her bet after all now lol
BIC: Lysette should not have been surprised at the comment regarding California. It was true that she had gone to some of the small cafes that served healthy foods and such. But she of course had not told him that she was herself one of the holistic healers that didn't use conventional medicine. He of course was intoxicated so she knew she had to be gentle.
"I do believe that we need medicine for certain things yes, George. After all, the world of medicine has helped the human race in so many ways. Without it there might still be some fatal diseases out there that killed off people hundreds of years ago. However.....I am one that personally believes that there can also be...other ways in which people might be treated that can be just as effective. But...something tells me that you don't feel this way?"
rpgamer501 - March 24, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
George
"Not feel this way???" George said, surprise showing on his face. "How about 4 years of undergrad as a biology major, and 4 more years of medical school?" He blinked, shaking his head, unruly hair flying. "I really... I really haven't seen anything before that tells me that some hocus pocus makes people better."
He mused for a moment, smiling. "Ever see that Seinfeld episode where George goes to a holistic healer? He was purple." George grinned, drunkenly oblivious to Lysette's involvement with the movement.
Dana - March 25, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
Lysette
"Hocus pocus?" Lysette asked. "Is that you refer to....other means as?" She was trying her best not to be judgmental and angry but it was becoming more and more difficult.
"No, I'm afraid I didn't catch that Seinfeld episode. Actually, I'm afraid I'm not much of a Seinfeld fan. And now that I see how healers were portrayed in the episode, it is giving me more of a reason not to like it."
She cleared her throat. "So, you think all...non-medicine methods are hocus pocus? You think that they...wave some kind of magic wand and hold a dead chicken over someone's head while chanting? You think that healing is magick, George? A person can not be healed if they don't wish to be and there is no magick that can make them."
