Title: Serenity - Heart Of Gold

The gang of Serenity had gotten the call, or rather Inara had and she had asked for help from Mal and the gang. After Mal accepted they were all well on their way. Mandi waited at the whorehouse for them to arrive. She got the girls ready, the liquor all in a row, the food primed, lined and ready. She made sure the boys had as few clothes on as possible and the girls dresses were properly..... well, fuckable.

Perfect.

With a smile, she went outside to wait, with a pistol in her hand and shotgun at her knee.

Mal, Simon, Jayne

Mal had called everyone to the cargo bay in order to get everything out. Things were a bit more unusual than they had been. He looked around at his crew.

"All right," he started. "Seems there are some friends of Inara's in trouble. They waved us looking for help."

"Us?" Jayne asked. "Who would ask us for help?"

"Well, it ain't exactly us. It was more for Inara, and she asked us."

"So, is this a paying job?" Jayne asked.

"No," Mal told him.

"Well, I don't see the benefit in gettin' in folks' troubles if we ain't getting paid!"

"You don't have to come, Jayne," Mal stated. "Okay, there seems to be a pregnant lady about, she may be in need of a doctor." He looked to Simon.

"I can handle that," Simon said. "I've dealt with pregnant women before. Back at the. . ."

"That's nice," Mal interrupted. "We're going. Any questions?"

Jayne slowly raised his hand.

"Other than you!" Mal yelled.

"I don't know these people, and don't much care to!" Jayne told him.

Mal smiled. He knew what to do to get Jayne into this. "They're whores!"

Jayne's eyes grew wide. "I'm in!" He cried without thinking.

"Shiny! Anyone else got anything to say?" Mal asked.

Inara and Wash

Inara sighed at Jayne's reaction. It was typical, however. Inara never knew Jayne Cobb to be anything but a hedonist.

Wash shook his head,"I'm all good..." He looked over to Zoe and rasied his hands as if he was giving up. "I'll behave I promise." He raised his eyebrow at his wife hoping that she would take his vow as acceptable enough.

"Everyone," Inara spoke carefully, "Please be on your best behavior. Mandi is an old friend of mine. I would prefer you would treat her and all of her young ladies and men with respect." Although they were common whores, Inara wanted to make it clear that they were still people not tinker toys.

Kaylee

Sidling her way into the cargo bay so that she ended up next to Simon, Kaylee grinned at him, then tried to focus on the Captain’s words. Aww, a pregnant lady, and someone’s goin’ after her? That just ain’t right. Even if she is a whore, there’s no call for hurtin’ a person, specially one about to have a baby. Face darkening slightly, Kaylee frowned as she let the other's speak. She just couldn’t understand why people behaved the way they did sometimes. If everyone just tried to be a bit nicer, the world would be a much better place.

“I think it’s a right fine thing to do, Cap’n,” she piped up, grin suddenly back in place. “Goin’ to help those folk, I mean. Besides, seeing some boy whores might be... interesting. I'm in.”

Simon, Mal, Jayne

Simon swallowed hard at that thought. Would Kaylee really go after some boy whores instead of him? Well, he hadn't exactly made right with her since Jaynestown in Muddersville. He kept his eyes forward trying not to think about it. He stiffened a bit, then turned to Mal.

"I'll get my things ready, Cap'n."

"Sure thing, doc," Mal said moving to the side. He eyed Kaylee.

That boy has got a lot to learn about womenfolk. Here Kaylee is. . . all cheery and wanting him. Anyway. . .

"So, Jayne, you got all your weapons ready?" Mal asked.

"Sure do, Cap'n. So, whores, huh? Do. . .?"

"Jayne! Please, mind on the job."

"Well, it is," Jayne told him. "Sorta."

Mal sighed. He knew this was going to be a tough time to be putting up with Jayne's inability to control himself.

Mal

"All right, so here it is. We're going in and helping these people. Wash, get us on the ground. Kaylee, keep an eye on the engine. Zoe, Jayne, get all the weapons you can. I'm hoping we can resolve htis peacefully, but I doubt that is the way it will go down. So, lets get to going."

Simon

Simon moved through the infirmary gathering his tools and medicines, placing them neatly in his bag. His heart broken from Kaylee's words of wanting man whores. Good work, Simon. She's going after some other form of. . . Oh, God! I can't think about this! He placed his hands on the counter and braced himself. He closed his eyes tight fending off the pain and tears that came. Just tell her. Just go and tell her and don't go all. . . stiff! That's what I do! With confidence, he grabbed his bag and made his way to the cargo bay.
