Title: Audition Clarification
Description: READ THIS BEFORE AUDITIONING!

This is something designed to help you better understand how to and how not to audition on the board.
  • Only post auditions in the Character's Needed thread.
Do not post them in any of the Plot threads.

The Character's Needed thread is where we look first to approve auditions for any role. So if you post them there, you're a lot more likely to get the role. The plot threads are for plot questions only.
  • This also means please Do Not post auditions twice, in both the plot threads and Character's Needed.
This just makes things longer, harder to get through, and frankly a bit confusing when we see the same audition over and over again.
  • Do not just post a request like "Can I have Joe Schmo?" and expect to get the role.
We are going to ask you to post an audition for the role, so why not just go ahead and post them with the request? There isn't any role on the board (besides the ones that are already taken, obviously) that any of you are restricted from auditioning for, so don't be shy about it. Just do it.
AND, even if the request is up, if someone posts an audition before you, they're going to get approved before you are. That's just the way it goes.
  • From now on, post biographies in the Character's Needed thread, too, and add your audition on to the end.
If your biography is approved, we'll move it to the plot thread for you, and add your name and the character's name to the character list.
  • You don't need to post biographies for canon characters.
That means that if the character is already up on the list, you don't need to post a biography for it. We know the background, looks, etc., of the character, so you don't need to worry about making up a bio for them. Just post an audition.

The major thing we're asking for right now is that everyone cut back on the "Can I have him/her, please?" posting. It just takes up space without getting anything achieved, so please just post auditions first without asking if you can have the character. Also, major thing number two would be posting all of your auditions in the Characters Needed threads, which are now specific by genre.

If you have any questions about auditioning, post them here.

when audtioning for a character what are you looking, what should the audtion consist of?

Gaia - March 24, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
We are looking to see if you can write well, and if you know the character you're trying for well enough to play them. So I would suggest staying away from using other characters in your post besides the one you're trying out for, and really trying to be as gramatically correct as possible, including spelling. One or two typos are okay, cause God knows I make them often enough, but if the grammar is so bad we can't read it, it's hard to give someone the character they're asking for.

Other than that, it can really be the character doing anything: getting out of bed in the morning, training (if they're a fighter or something,) hanging out around the house... these are just a few suggestions.

Do the RP people add you or do they notify you that you've received that part?

Gaia - April 11, 2006 12:12 PM (GMT)
It will be added to the top of the Character Needed thread under APPROVED AUDITIONS, and your name will also be added to the character list in the Plot thread. If you don't RP within a reasonable amount of time (assuming the RP is already up and running) someone will shoot you a PM to let you know what's going on.
