*General Personality:
August is a man set in his beliefs and ways, a strong believer in what is right and just, a devout religious man, and a lover of people. A patriot, and a Leutnant in the Wehrmacht, he doesn't necessarily have Nazi leanings. More to the truth, August feels a need to fight for his country, even though he doesn't agree with many Nazi ideals. Always a family man, he is devoted to his mother and father, as well as his six younger siblings, and anyone else he may share blood with. He has a fondness for children, and dotes on his nieces and nephews when he sees them. Amiable and prone to laughter, he has an infectious sort of smile and makes friendships easily. Fairly laid back, August doesn't understand why people have the need to rush around, tends to take it easy. Because of this, perhaps, it's hard to get August into a temper, though when he does get angry, he (like his mother) has a tendency to become violent.
Strengths: Strong sense of family, love of people, makes friendships easily.
Weaknesses: Children, seeing people in bad situations, a bit too altruistic at times, bad temper when it comes to that
Likes: People, kids, music, rain
Dislikes: Hot weather, the need to rush

*History
August was the first child of seven born to Adelheid and Conrad Shriver, in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Born 1909, five years before the beginning of WWI, he can recall a little of his father's leaving in 1916 and his return in 1918, when the Great War ended. By the time Elise was born in 1919, August was ten years old, and already more like his father Conrad than his mother would have liked. Though his parents got along, Adelheid had had higher hopes when she had married Conrad - he wasn't exactly the knight in shining armour she had been dreaming of. Conrad was a gentle, laid back man, who had a love of children and, as he put it, "the finer things." Adelheid, on the other hand, was a bad tempered sort of woman who had a need to be going somewhere and doing something at all times. She rushed wherever she went, something that bothered Conrad to no end. When August showed himself to be of the same mould of his father, Adelheid was rather disappointed.
August met Anneliese in 1926, when he was 17 years old. She was 16, a year behind him at the gesamtschule [Secondary School] they both went to. The two began dating on and off for the two years August remained at the school. For a year they saw each other little, then, when Anneliese graduated, they got back together. The two became engaged in the fall of 1929. Unfortunately, Anneliese was in a car crash two months before the date, and was killed. August went through a period of intense depression and self destruction, which continued until he attempted suicide in early 1930. Rescued by his brother Deitfried and his wife Imke, they nursed him back to health and happiness. Ashamed of himself and feeling empty, August left Düsseldorf, kicked around for a bit, before coming home again in fall of 1931. He bought a permanent apartment, settled down for the failing months of 1931, until the summer of 1932. In August of 1932 he enlisted in the Wehrmacht Now, nearly seven years later, he is an officer (Oberleutnant, equivalent of First Lieutenant in the British/American army).
Anything Else?: He has a three year old German Shepherd named Sigi (short for Siegfried).
