Patriotic to the last, Emilie is naturally wary of any Non-German. 24 and unmarried, her ailing mother worries she will grow to be an old maid, and Emilie has the same fear floating in the back of her mind. She has a weakness for uniformed men, which could prove to be her downfall. Still, she doesn't especially want a family until the war is over.

*History
Middle child of Judith and Isidore Weissmann, and the only girl, Emilie has had to become extremely mature quickly -- to take care of her constantly ill father and wild younger brother. When, in 1936, her father died of his illness (lung cancer), Emilie had to take over her father's work in the inn they ran, alongside her mother. Henrik gone into the Wehrmacht, and Jörg only 13, the inn was left to Judith and Emilie. In 1937, Judith broke her hip badly, and couldn't do much work anymore. Emilie, therefore, was given almost total control of the Hotel Weissmann.
After Judith's accident, it seemed unlikely that the inn would be able to remain open. They could hardly pay the bills, less and less people patroned the inn. Judith became depressed, crying all the time about her lost husband, in pain most times thanks to her hip. Emilie went to Berlin, to petition an Uncle for help. A powerful SS man, Messerli loaned Emilie and Judith money to repair the inn and get them back on their feet. Through his help, the inn became successful again.
Judith, however, remained depressed, until she stopped working altogether. She left her work - mostly paperwork, paying the bills, to Emilie. And though Emilie was able to pay her Uncle back, and keep the Hotel Weissmann open, Judith continues to this day, leaving her daughter to struggle through the bad times.
Now, 1940, through all odds, Emilie has managed to keep the hotel running. Jörg, now 17, also works there now (he's calmed somewhat since his younger days). They have a few employees, but the majority of the work falls on Emilie's fragile shoulders. The Hotel Weissmann is popular among the locals, as well as people traveling through the area.
